The thunderstorms rolled in early this morning. It was a perfect day to just stay snuggle down into the bed and sleep well into the afternoon.
Too bad M and I had to get up for work.
M was doing a bit better this morning. He went to bed early, lathered up with White Flower. That's not to say that he wasn't still hurting pretty bad, because he was. He ended up working from home today.
On the food side of things ....
I actually managed to get up early enough to have a decent breakfast. It was still on the Easy-Peasy side of things, but it was better than grabbing a turnover and a Coke. I made instant oatmeal and instant coffee. The oatmeal was the Quaker Oats Strawberries and Cream. The coffee was International Coffee's Cafe Vienna.
The coffee actually lasted me for most of the morning. The oatmeal wore off around 1pm, so I had to grab my emergency snack of strawberry Pop-Tarts. I've been mindful enough of food in the past to know that it's important to keep some sort of snack handy and, if possible, a bottle of water. Today was one of those days.
The thunderstorms had stopped a little after 1pm. When I was driving home, I called to see if M was doing better. He was holding his own, but he was able to walk around. I wasn't too hungry when I got home, though I did grab a quick little snack. I thought I was going to have a proper lunch. I ended up taking a nap for a few hours, instead. (I seem to be paying a bit of a price for this weekend's adventures in veggie farming, too.)
Dinner was actually breakfast. We made hash browns, scrambled eggs (for M) and fried eggs (for myself). After dinner, we had to make a run to the grocery store. We were out of Coke, green onions, bacon, baking potatoes, and seafood ... among other fiddling bits. We missed our usual Sunday night grocery shopping (for an exceptionally good reason), which also kept us from making a proper food menu for this week.
Truth be told, this week looks like a messed up week for menu planning, anyway. I've got an after-hours meeting at work tomorrow. My department is going to have a massive refresher training on all the duties that come under the Hospitality/Visitor Services banner. It's rather alot, really. There's the rumour that they're going to order pizza.
I'll also be traveling at the end of this week. I ended up getting all of Friday, Saturday and Sunday off of work. I'll be able to leave earlier for Baby Bro's, but that means I'll have to plan for more meals on the road. I think I could get around some of that by timing my Friday meals (a late breakfast with a PBJ sandwich snack on the way down, and the earlier dinner with my brother's family).
Sadly - or fortunately - M will not be joining me on this trip. He'll be chained to the desk in his office this weekend. I'll have to call home every so often to make sure that he's not overdoing it. Sometimes he forgets to eat and to stretch when he gets going. When I'm at home, I just smack him upside the head or bring him in something to eat.
