More Books for 101 Things

Over this weekend, I've knocked off two more books for my reading goals on my 101 Things list.

Friday night I finished book No. 11, Women's Life in Colonial Days by Carl Holliday. Last night, I finished book No. 12, How to Be a Villain by Neil Zawacki.

Women's Life in Colonial Days was an interesting read and one of my recent Dover Books purchases. I really love Dover Books. They take a lot of books and materials that have fallen into Public Domain and reprint them. You can sign up and get email announcements (with huge discounts) of their offers and get their catalogues in the mail.

Women's Life in Colonial Days was one of the books I got during Dover's amazing holiday clearance sale. A book written in the 1920/1930s that uses female and male diaries from the period, as well as histories written just after the period, it creates a portrait of early American women that isn't usually put forward in print or media. The book is written with a surprisingly enlightened view of women and women's roles for something that was created pre-Feminist Movement.

How to Be a Villain is a book that's been hanging around my "To Read" pile for a while. A light, humourous read that provides advice on how to be the Evil Villain you've always wanted to be. A Must-Have for all those villains who really want to kick their World Domination plans into high gear! Zawacki goes over all the basics; from discovering your particular evil villain milieu to stylish dress and picking your evil henchmen.

I'm not sure which books are next to be read. I've got one or two books that I put down and need to pick back up again, soon, or I'll have to re-read them. I've also got to start doing some serious reading for my classes. That fact will play a big part in my next reading selections, as I don't want to fry my mind.

american history, women's history, read 20 books, 101 things in 1001 days
