I would advise staying inside your greenhouse in the event that you're there when the shinigami show up. You're not someone I'd ever consider fragile, but the spiritual pressure of six captains and five Espada in battle would be...quite a bit.

He endured torture on a daily basis for some time before he was brought to Siren's Port. He has been taking it out on the darkness monsters, but that tactic doesn't seem to be working for him as well as it once did. He was more on edge than I've ever seen him.
Hmm...psychology isn't an area of expertise for me, unfortunately. But the little I do know typically states that psychotherapy is the best in correcting that kind of condition -- though that takes time...and proper psychologists.
The best offer I can advise is to be there for your darling sapling -- strike down any threat that might come his way to try to soothe his troubled soul.

Of course, it's unfortunate that the poor dear had those kinds of circumstances in his past, but it's your job -- as a protector -- to do the best job you possibly can. It might not be enough to completely eradicate his fears, but it might help him sleep better at night, at least.
Then I'll have to ask around discreetly and see if I can find someone trustworthy that might be able to help him.

Have you considered finding an additional home? Perhaps you could provide a safer environment if no one else is aware of it.
