Timepoint: After Harada route Ch4 part1
On the way back from Shimabara, I was supporting Serizawa-san as he walk.
In some distance behind us was Ryunosuke, who seemed to be in deep thought.
Serizawa: You planned this tonight, didn't you?
Serizawa suddenly spoke. His eyes were keen again, without a trace of being drunk.
Sano: Plan? What do you mean?
Of course I knew what Serizawa-san meant. He must have noticed the seed of love sprouted between Ryunosuke and the lass. But before I can make sure of Serizawa-san's next move, I should not expose mine. For he could mercilessly separate those two.
However, he laughed, like he had seen through my acting.
Serizawa: Harada, you're a curious person. But you did a cruel thing.
Sano: Cruel?
Serizawa: There is no future falling in love with a woman in redlight district. You know this, don't you? That dog can't afford her Mizuage*. He doesn't even have what it takes to frequent her. What awaits him is only despair. Don't encourage him further.
Sano: ......
With mixed feelings, I looked at Serizawa-san straight in the eyes.
Sano: Serizawa-san, what about you? What do you plan to do with him?
Serizawa-san made a faint smile, turned away from me, and mumbled.
Serizawa: Boring.
Like I'm not worthy of his time, he started walking off without closing the conversation.
Serizawa: Now that I'm completely awake, I have to drink again back in the quarters.
Seeing Serizawa-san like this, I stood there speechless.
Ryu: Harada, is anything wrong?
Ryunosuke caught up. Worried, he looked between Serizawa-san and I.
Sano: No. Nothing.
There is no future falling in love with a woman in redlight district. To tell the truth, I half agree to Serizawa-san's reasoning. However, I think it's Ryunosuke's freedom to choose how it ends. Rather than giving up without given the chance, it's better to let him make the choice.
Ryunosuke and I rushed in the alley to catch up with Serizawa-san.
Note:
Mizuage is the coming-of-age ceremony, with loss of virginity, for a maiko to become geisha.
