Hello! I've been watching this comm for a little while, but I've only just run into a few questions~!

First off- Is it even possible to avoid meeting your rival? Rival mode is suffering, because I do not understand the guides very well. What is tokimeki state? I struggled through Hikami's route until almost the end before I lost my nerve and gave ( Read more... )

Mmm, as far as rivals go if I'm remembering correctly. You can avoid them by either not picking their room at the very beginning or not preforming the action related to them. (Like don't study if you don't want meet Arisawa/Onoda). Even if you do meet them you can usually ignore them, just don't do anything with them after you meet, and rival mode shouldn't activate. If you do happen to activate rival mode you can spam their hang out button until they give up.

For Himuro I cannot help, I only ever did his route once way back when I first started playing. Sorry. D:

And for the third I think it's really just random...? I could be wrong though. xD

I hope I helped a little bit. :3

I'm stymied over how to get Hikami without Onada. I think I can just pursue the clubs/jobs the boys are in to meet them without meeting the rival, then wait for the certain stat raising until second year, but I can't find a way to meet Hikami without Onada--and you can't participate in the club and ignore her...I guess I'll have to make a second attempt at wooing her. Last time I activated Hard Mode on accident...

Bah, well, trial and error for him, I suppose. Better missed opportunities than negative skinship.

Ahhh how frustrating~

It did, a little...but now I have to ask--is itnormal for your guy to drop in affection constantly (not a huge amount, just out of the pulsing 'love' heart) throughout the end of the second year onward? Can Rival Mode be activated without my knowledge? I spoke to Nishi once or twice at the start of the game while I waffled over my approach, but otherwise I've avoided her and gotten no Rival scene (nor 'VS!' on the tokimeki panel), but...gah, this is as much of a struggle as when I was in Rival Mode with ( ... )

I've noticed the drop out of pulsing heart before too so it may very well be normal. I know it will drop out of pulsing if you haven't done skinship in awhile (I usually stop once at :D to avoid love mode as it can become rather tedious.)

To my knowledge rival mode should not be able to activated without your knowledge. Every time I've activated it (and I often do) I've always had my rival confront me about it.

Some sort of affection decay, I suppose, ugh. I've noticed if I use love mode too often/much affection drops, too, so I sometimes sabotage dates a little with an alt!best or 'okay' answer instead (it's also the only way I know to get his topics out of him, since I run across Nishi at school more often than I do Harry...)

Right then, I suppose I shouldn't worry much about his affection dipping as long as Rival Mode isn't in affect. My one last question is--Tokimeki state is the pulsing heart, right?

Tokimeki state is not pulsing heart. The pulsing heart/ darker part of the heart represents your skinship I believe. At one time I was not able to master skinship and did playthroughs completely without it. I never got pulsing heart or the darker part in those playthroughs. As long as the heart is hot pink and the marker below is on a blushing face your in tokimeki state. So you don't have to worry about the pulsing heart so much. :)

So if you wanna skip love mode you can stop skinshipping a bit until the pulsing goes down and then you should be brought to the beach and can go through your topics without sabotaging. It's what I do at the very least, heh. :)

Shoot, really? That makes things so much easier...! The guide seemed to imply 'blushing' wasn't Tokimeki, since it mentioned your guy could be stolen by your rival even at blushing state, but wouldn't if they were Tokimeki, and then I became so very confused...

As far as I know as long as the guy's heart is hot pink on the tokimeki panel by the 3rd year you should be safe. :) Orange-ish pink and below then as the guide says he may end up getting stolen. :\

I used fireylight's walkthrough as well when I first started so I can understand the confusion. It was helpful but still kind of vague so I went through a lot of trial and error testing and snooped around till I found the Japanese wikis which also helped some. :>

Oh, well, geez. That is so much less of a pain than constantly keeping skinship maxed every week. Is that also the sort of 'tokimeki' required to get a rival to back off when it's with her?

Ohhhh, Japanese Wiki? Where is this~?

Yes, I believe so. You'll need to get your rival up to a hot pink heart for her to give up.

As for the wikis I'll message you the links. :)

I will remember this when I do my Operation Crush Rivalry play-through for Hikami.

Okay!
