Two Sides of the Same Coin
Trust
Keito sat at one of the tables of their dressing room and Takaki walked into the room and dropped his bag on the floor with a tired sigh before falling ungracefully onto the old beat up couch. Glancing around the room the older BEST member noticed that Keito was unusually alone at the moment. This must have been the first time in weeks he’d seen the younger boy without his other half: Yuto.
“Ne…Keito?” Takaki called out to him.
Keito looked up from the book he’d been reading and smiled at Takaki, “What is it?” He placed a bookmark in the book and gave the older member his full attention.
Takaki cocked his head to the side and regarded the younger member with a puzzled expression for a moment before speaking. “Why aren’t you with Yuto? Aren’t you two always together? You’re dating right?”
The Seven member’s smile didn’t falter as he nodded, “Yeah, we started going out a few weeks ago.”
Takaki smiled to see the happiness radiating off of Keito’s face, “Ah…that’s nice. But where is Yuto then?”
“Oh, Yuto? He’s with Yamada. They went to the store together not too long ago actually.”
“Ah…wait! What?!” Takaki sat up straight with a distressed face, “Yuto’s with Yamada?! But Yama-chan said he’d wait for me…”
Keito watched as the older boy’s face fell sadly. Not understanding but wanting to help Keito approached Takaki and rested his hand on the other’s shoulder. “Takaki-kun…what’s the matter?”
Takaki looked up and gave the younger boy an incredulous look, “Aren’t you worried? Yamada and Yuto? Together? Alone?” Keito’s expression didn’t change to one of distress as Takaki continued, which confused the older boy. “Don’t you care?”
Confusion was the only readable expression on Keito’s face as he tried to understand what Takaki was getting at. “What do you mean?”
Sighing, the BEST member put his head in his hands, “This is what I was worried about.” Looking back up at Keito he took the boy’s shoulders and gave him a small shake, “What if they’re cheating on us?!”
“Cheating? I don’t think so…” Keito shook his head a bit and pried Takaki’s hands off his shoulders, “Yamada wouldn’t do that too you. Don’t worry.”
“But,” the older member whined pitifully, “he spends so much time with Yuto…just yesterday they went to the movies together.”
Keito nodded, “I know. Yuto told me about it. He said the movie sucked and they had fun laughing about the dumb parts.” Keito chuckled at the memory of Yuto reenacting the cheesy scenes in the movie.
Takaki just stared at Keito as if he’d grown a second head, “You don’t even care if he’s cheating on you?!”
The younger member raised an eyebrow and shook his head, “Yuto isn’t cheating on me with Yamada. They don’t even like each other like that.” Keito could sort of understand how Takaki was feeling, but knew the older boy was wrong. “Takaki-kun, those two have been friends for years, dating you doesn’t change that. And Yuto dating me doesn’t change that. And yesterday they went to the movies for the first time in three months. It’s not like Yamada doesn’t spend any time with you. I know this is inappropriate but you aren’t the only person in Yamada’s life, just the most important one.”
Keito paused to gauge Takaki’s reaction; the older boy didn’t say anything, but looked down to his folded hands with an ashamed look in his eyes. “Don’t look so depressed Takaki-kun. Yamada’s really happy with you; everyone can see how he lights up when he’s with you. I bet when he comes back he’ll hop right into your lap and share his strawberries with you!”
Smiling at the fact Takaki didn’t look so sad anymore, Keito looked up to see the dressing room door opening, “We’re back!” His eyes lit up when he saw Yuto walk through the door fallowed by Yamada.
“Yuya!” Yamada shouted excitedly and ran over to his boyfriend.
Keito watched Takaki light up as he caught Yamada in his arms with a smile and stood up himself to meet Yuto.
“Keito! I got something for you while we where out…” Yuto dug into the plastic sac he was carrying and pulled out a plastic bottle, “its chocolate milk! You love it right?”
Keito gave a gentle smile as he took the milk, “It’s my favorite…well, second favorite.”
Yuto’s face fell, “I didn’t get the right thing?”
Laughing Keito pulled the other boy into a hug and kissed his cheek, “No, you got the right thing…it’s just that my real favorite thing is Yuto.”
Routine
Routine is what makes everyday life a little more livable in some cases. Some might say it makes life more boring, they need to be a little more spontaneous than a routine life allows. For others, it guarantees something you might look forward to everyday, week, month, or anything else. Such is the case with relationships; many are built up of an intricate set of routine actions that makes each day a bit more worth living.
Lunch in the Hey! Say! JUMP dressing room went routinely as it did every other day. As everyone was finishing up eating, each member would file out of the room one by one and occasionally by twos to go get a drink from the vending machine just outside their room and around the corner. Luckily for them, they didn’t have to share with anyone else because they where at the farthest end of the hallway.
And just like any other day, Yabu would come back with his can of apple juice and sit down giving an expectant look over to Keito who would stand up just after finishing his bento and head out of the room to the old vending machine. And like clockwork Yuto would scarf down his lunch and follow the older boy out of the room.
Yuto would always find Keito sitting on the other side of the machine sipping the water he’d just bought looking back up at him expectantly as the younger boy purchased his coffee milk. The younger Seven member would then sit down next to Keito and uncap his drink and gulp half of it in one swig.
“I don’t see how you can drink it so fast…” Keito would always mutter with an amused smile, “Won’t you get hiccups?”
Yuto would shrug and rest his head on the older boy’s shoulder, “I hear that you can just loose hiccups by forgetting about them.”
“How are you gonna do that?”
The younger boy would then smile and looked up at Keito, “You’ll just have to distract me then…”
Keito wouldn’t need any further instruction as he’d lean his head down and plant a sweet kiss on his lover’s lips. “Will that do?”
“Maa…something more like this…” Yuto would say and lean back up and rest his lips against Keito’s long enough for the both of them to loose their breath. And just as Yuto’s head would turn away Keito would always pull him back for a deeper, hotter kiss; one that would leave both lightheaded, gasping for breath, and begging for more.
And just like every other day Ryutaro would poke his head out of the dressing room door and shout, “Come on you lovebirds! We’re practicing again!”
Author’s Note: Hello all!!! I’m back again with that Okajima I promised! Did you enjoy it? I guess it can be considered a sort of sequel to The Art of Feeling…but it can be read independently too I guess… I thought of the plot and whatnot last week or so…really it was the same night I wrote the first one…I just was too lazy to actually write it…sorry! I know the second one is a lot shorter than the first one, but that’s because the first one was dialogue based…those are always longer because dialogue is so much easier for me to write. But with the second one I tried writing in a different tense. So that it would go along with the theme of routine. Did it work well? I hope I didn’t make any mistakes and write passed tense on accident…XD Well, I hope you enjoyed reading this! I’ll update my hikato next so don’t worry! I’ll try to have it out tomorrow. I’m never busy, I have enough time to write the rest of it in one day actually…I just don’t because I’m lazy and do other things instead…sorry for being so lazy when you’re all waiting for the next chapter…hounto gomennasai!!!
Well, this is long so I’ll shut up now…XD
