[Requiem] Seeking Character Connections
As my primary is getting more and more mired in various proxies and research, I thought that I might enjoy something a bit more poignant. So, in between older characters I wanted to try some of the really interesting stuff from the carthian book (mostly the thematic stuff at least, not the mechanics stuff) and also touch on some interesting character stuff I've wanted to get out. So for those of you interested I'd love connections...
Name: Luther "Lou" Garvey
Clan: Gangrel
Covenant: Carthian (as of around 1998), Unaligned (from late 1960s to 1998)
Concept: Nomadic Activist, Seeker of Redemption, "The Haunted Man"
Inspirations:
* The "Freedoms Riders" of the 60's Civil Rights Movement
* Various prominent figures and speakers from the American Civl Rights Movement
* The Fugitive (Television Show)
* American Werewolf in London (Movie) No it's not because of Forsaken
* John Doe (Television Show)
* The Quiet Man (Movie)
Synapse:
Lou Garvey is a good man, quiet largely unassuming and steadfast. He's oddly shy at first meeting, but it's more a fear of strangers than a reluctance of character. He feels broken, as if he's been forced to experience a lot. A wanderer and Nomad over the last 40 years, infrequent sightings of him in various towns in the american south, midwest and southwest have had him interacting with members of his clan, other nomads, and even those that hunt or live on the outskirts of cities. From the late 60s to the late 90s, he's only been seen for bits and pieces, a week here, a day here. Always shaken, always with a haunted look over his shoulder, always edgy... Many rumors abound about something that hunts him, some ghost or monster or spirit that dogs his path. Some say he's bad luck as over the years tales say that whatever seeks him, doesn't abide those that get in his way, some even look askance at Lou himself.
But things change, for the last 10 years however he's proven to be both better and worse, there is a dynamism about him, a near frantic desire to be learn more about others, to find a way to deal with the vampiric condition. For those who know him, he's been warmer, more open to people. Still a bit nuts around the edges, he's done enough running of messages and supplies to warrant acceptance into the Carthian Movement. He still never sits still much, and he still seems tense around strangers, and things that go bump in the night, but for those call him friend there is one thing they are not used to seeing in his eyes.
Hope.
With the return of hope the man that existed before his embrace has slowly become more and more to the forefront. Taking up old banners and stirring the people where he can, Lou has begun working towards righting the wrongs that exist in the kindred world just as he did seemingly before in the mortal one.
