JYJ member Kim Jaejoong donated 50 million won to his alma mater as development funds. At the year-end celebration ceremony held in his Alma mater, Kim Jaejoong donated 20 million won to Gongju Jungdong Elementary School as well as 30 million won to Gongju Jungdong Middle school. Gongju Jungdong Elementary School will be using the donated funds to purchase computers and books for teaching, as well as for the installation of a fountain inside the school. Gongju Jungdong Middle School will be using the funds to develop the school’s baseball and swimming teams.
Kim Jaejoong expressed, “I’ve participated in donation activities in the recent years to reciprocate the love I had received. I feel, as a senior, I should give my juniors some help. It would be great for me to donate funds directly to the teachers and students personally, but unfortunately I didn’t have the chance to. If I ever have a chance, I’d really love to visit the teachers personally. I hope my juniors will have a better school environment after the winter break.”
Before Gongju Jungdong Middle School had their winter break, Kim Jaejoong had handwritten congratulatory words to his alma mater and the students on their year-end celebration ceremony. His juniors had also responded enthusiastically to his heartfelt congratulatory message.
One of the teachers at the school expressed, “We feel that Kim Jaejoong is still very concerned about our school and his juniors even after graduation. Our students felt really grateful and happy when they heard about Kim Jaejoong’s donations. We feel proud that he was a student of our school, and he has done many meaningful donations to the school and his juniors as an outstanding Hallyu star. Kim Jaejoong’s talent has contributed in his success in music, and we hope that our students can follow his example and become a talent in our country. We thank Kim Jaejoong for giving us such a special year end celebration ceremony.”
In November, JYJ members Kim Jaejoong, Kim Junsu and Park Yoochun had donated 200 million won to the affected citizens of the Thailand floods. They are currently proceeding with the “Mango Tree Project” by World Vision.
