new computer comin' my way!!!

Nov 19, 2008 14:04

OY. seriously, fucking OY. i've been trying to get a new computer for the last year, (when my old laptop that i'd had since 2000 finally crapped out). i waited until my AmeriCorps stint was done (August 2008) to use a portion of my education award to get a new computer. the process:

1. this quarter, i enrolled in a zero-credit "Intro to Creative Writing" community class at Seattle Central Community College.
2. i reported to americorps that the cost of enrollment was $1200 ($75 for the actual class, and the rest as "cost of attendance" aka to use at my discretion for a computer).
3. americorps disbursed the funds to SCCC on 10/30/08.
4. after a figurative headache, i picked up my check from SCCC yesterday (11/18/08).
5. after another headache today (11/19/08), i purchased a new computer!!! it is estimated to arrive during the first week of december.

i'm getting a customized Dell Inspiron 1525N:

and, i decided to get a new printer, too. i used to have a printer, which might still physically exist in my parents' basement somewhere, but by the time i was through with it from college, the printer had had a good life and it is time to move on.
