last week the yellow hat band played for a late night romantic tryst, organized by a person to serenade her sweetie -- they have been corresponding for the last several months thru love letters, they live only a few blocks from each other, and they had never met until last week. it was such an amazing thing to be a part of! the evening included singing sea shanties, a scavenger hunt to volunteer park (where there was a 30-50 person "freeze"), to the arboretum (where the band & masked dancers serenaded this fellow), and then shadow dancing. and for the folks who helped out, we all got hot chocolate & story time (& music time, too!)
letter to YHB:
dearest friends from the yellow hat band!
i cannot thank you enough for your time and energy and willingness to be a part of the events that occurred tuesday night. to put it simply - it was one of the most incredible experiences of my life!!!! to see james fall to his knees upon the bridge, give in to that music, and howl to the heavens! - what bliss! james himself was so moved he was nearly unable to speak when we finally met eyes on the shore. the only words that escaped him: "this is the most magical night of my life."
i have been next to the man from that night until just now, and i am simply speechless.
THANK YOU so much for making that night what it was. there is no way the bridge would have ever felt so wonderfully exquisite without you.
i told lesli i would like to volunteer to help you in anything you may need in organizing for honk west, so please do let me know.
i send so much love,
rebecca
letter to everyone:
dearest friends near and far,
i do not now have, nor may ever quite have, words to express my gratitude.
THE SPECTACLE WAS INCREDIBLE.
hearing stories of folks from each of the locations about what happened there, about how things materialized, about the band that blew your heads off at my place afterwards!!!! it was astounding. to be upon the bridge and see this man fall to his knees as we emerged in a single line, put his hands to his face and gaze up toward the heavens - it was more bliss than one might imagine!
i was blown away by stories i have heard about what creative freezes people did at the tower, and was beyond amazed by the musicians in the fantastic Yellow Hat Band. The sailboat was a complete success, as i performed a shadow show on the sails in the shivering rain. only these words escaped him: "this is the most magical night of my life!"
what sports you be! what wonderful humans! THANK YOU for your energy, your wonderment, your willingness, your presence.
if you brought others to the water tower that night whom i do not have email addresses for, please forward this to them as a small token of my gratitude.
this was the most wonderful thing i have been a part of in years.
THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU.
with love,
rebecca
