It's official. I will have to give up my holier-than-thou attitude when around friends whose parents have bought them brand new cars. As of this weekend, I will be one of those kids.
It's nothing fancy, just a stripped down Hyundai Elantra. Of course, this "stripped down" model has a/c, power windows and locks, a cd player, and an auxiliary jack for my iPod.
I feel bad that my parents are buying me a new car when I am so close to being "on my own". In 6 or 7 months, I will have a job, an apartment, insurance and bills. Granted, I have most of those things now. But this will be a REAL job. My first job out of college. Paying all my bills on my own (at the moment, I am on my parents' insurance and they pay my car insurance). Perhaps that is why my parents are buying me a car now. So I have one less payment to make when I get that first crappy job that pays nothing. I am beyond thankful and certainly wasn't expecting it. (Even when I found out that they bought my little sister a new car--the same model--I did not expect one.)
I am pleasantly humbled and extremely excited. :)
