I'll admit; i like the new LJ navigation strip. It's fiendishly difficult to get from my flist to the 'Update Journal' page otherwise (i have to go through my userinfo and, as everyone knows, the 3.65 s lapse is enough to kill off 89% of quality post-bunnies.)
Basically, i'm updating to publicise this great Doonesbury strip on the
flag-burning issue. (
This is my favourite installment so far.) Which makes me think about whether its actually legal to burn a flag in a comic strip? I mean people cuss, cheat, steal, kill in comic strips, all of which are far worse than desecrating national emblems right?
On a related note, I've found some very cool comic/novels recently; there's
Megillat Esther, which is an adaptation of the Jewish
Book of Esther which is quite the romance/genocide/intrigue adventure; there's the very squishable
Rudiments of Wisdom Cartoon Encyclopedia, which featured in The Observer from 1973-1987 and is very nerdy ala Horrible Histories; and
The Story of Bread with Miss Sunbeam (!!!). Typical 40s kitsch.
Oh, and a
Buddhist take on the
Zizou headbutt. Which was apparently, a
Very Professional Headbutt.
