He had so many questions for Jonghyun. Kibum always said that he would hate it if he were Jonghyun’s boyfriend, but he was curious about how exactly was he as a boyfriend. He was in love with Jonghyun and the fans seem to notice that. But not Jonghyun himself, he was doing things for fan service and nothing else while Kibum did things because he was in love with his hyung…..but with the older man’s arrogance, Kibum could not imagine being Jonghyun’s beau. He imaged he would hate it. But he always wanted to ask Sekyung how it felt like, but he never really did because when she looked at him he couldn’t help thinking she was intimidated by him.
--
It was the day after Valentine’s day and Sekyung was going to visit Jonghyun in their dorm. Jonghyun was left alone because of his ankle injury while the other members went on with activities.
Kibum got home earlier than the rest because his schedule started at 3 in the morning and he was about ready to crash by three in the afternoon. Opening the door he smelled something baking…cookies? Muffins? He sniffed some more and went to the kitchen to find Jonghyun sitting on a chair with Kibum’s apron around his waist as he mixed something on a bowl, his eyebrows furrowed in concentration.
“Oh! Kibummie! You’re back already?” He greeted the rapper when he looked up, his forehead smoothing, a handsome smile flashing on his face.
“I dunno, Jjong, I must be at a schedule because I’m standing right in front of you, talking for chrissakes.” He rolled his eyes and crossed his arms on his chest, “What are all these for?”
“Oh,” the vocalist got up and put on the mits for the oven, “I was up since 4 AM this morning trying to fucking figure out how to bake these stupid cookies,” he picked one up from a pan, “This one’s too bitter. This one’s burnt, this one isn’t even cooked!” He dropped the cookies, “so I decided on the home-made chocolates, instead.” He held up the wrapper, Kibum recognized it, it was the one where you just mix milk and put it in the fridge.
Kibum went to the fridge and opened it. He knew the fridge smelled bad. There was no way Jonghyun was going to keep those chocolates in there. He opened it and saw that it was all clean. Jonghyun took all unnecessary foods out and cleaned up the whole thing. With a sinking heart that was swelling at that moment he turned around and looked at Jonghyun.
“Hey, you..” he started, tears stinging his eyes, “So this is how you are when you really care and love someone…” his voice cracked a little, he hoped Jonghyun didn’t hear it.
“It may be a bit irritating and tiring, but this is what you’re supposed to do, right? So I do it.” Jonghyun smiled easily.
“No,” Kibum bit his lip briefly to keep his tears from falling, “if it’s irritating you wouldn’t do shit for someone of you don’t care about them. If it’s tiring you wouldn’t waste your time if you didn’t love them enough. This is how you really are, Jjong and it’s incredible. Enjoy your meeting with Sekyung noona, I’ll go and leave you two alone. I’m intruding, I’m sorry.” He walked fast out of their door, ignoring Jonghyun’s protests of him leaving.
When the door closed behind him he let his tears flow hotly against his flawless cheeks as his heart pounded in his chest, tightening every time he thought of what Jonghyun was doing for his girlfriend. Breathing in deeply, he walked out of their building, fogging the fact that he asked for how it really was to be Jonghyun’s beau. Now that he knew…Now that he knew how it could have been if it was him, he tried to forget his question was answered, he tried to forget he had a question at all.
