Long entry is long...
12th
The day of our flight.
Well, trouble came right away during the baggage check-in because we were in excess. And the amount tallied up to, what was it, £500? It was O_O. In the end, we were able to take the smaller luggage with us as hand-carry and pay a more reasonable amount for excess (we had to change our money again at a foreign exchange place because we gave back all our local money to our parents).
And as we were going through the detectors, I realised I had a big bottle of hairspray in my small luggage, then toothpaste and moisturiser and scissors .. but I got through without any problems ^0^ ~ My sis was caught with her lighter though, but they just took out all the fluid and gave it back.
On the plane I watched 'Wolverine'. It was okay. Even though it was just a four hour flight, it was the most uncomfortable I've ever been on a plane seat. BMI, ugh.
We arrived grunting and groaning with our bags to Paddington. Made our way to Brunei Hall and took a nice rest.
Trying to get some sleep on the plane... too hard...
13th
Today was about shopping!
The main objective of the day: buy jeans. I have three skirts and one pair of cargo pants.
Saw a skittering mouse in Trocadero. Passed by a protest in Picadilly Circus. Went shopping in Covent Garden. Got lost in Soho. Didn't buy any pants.
We wanted to have dinner in Nandos but it had a line that went all the way outside so we just went to this Persian restaurant 'Sadaf'. It was fine. Drinks were a rip-off though.
They had little dolls in the walls. This one looked like it was staring at me.
14th
We had to settle all our paperwork stuff, register ourselves as students etc etc. Made some youth discount railcards at the station. Then we went to HSBC so my sister could get a bank account but she couldn't yet. So we went to Bayswater to get her a phone number with Orange. She got her breasts measured at La Senza. That took a bit. After circling around the lingerie section four times with bras too big for me to even consider, I finally decided to just wait outside. Then we went shopping for more clothes. Still no pants.
We watched 'District 9'. That was good. ^_^
I ate Doraemon! He was yummy~
15th
Today we made our way to Cardiff.
Our bags were even heavier with all the shopping =_= but this time after the train, we used a taxi. Arrived outside the place. I had to walk to the letting agent to get the key and come back. Inside the house... it was dusty.
I was afraid to even sit down anywhere because of the dust and dirt occupying basically every surface of the house.
I went to the school to use the internet, and managed only to send an 'I'm okay' email to the parents and see something about A NEW TURTLE?!! before the overhead speaker said the library was closing. gah gah gah.
Since she wasn't here yet, I slept in my friend's bed because hers had a bed cover (and mine had 'stuff' and questionable stains on it) and I stole the duvet and pillow from the other room.
I don't know how to turn on the heater!! I'm so cold!! TT_TT
A momentous moment... and I couldn't get the front door open. =3=
16th
Today we started our ultra cleaning session. I wish real life worked like the movies where this part would be in time-lapse from old dirty house to clean pretty house. We swept, wiped, scrubbed, sprayed, disinfected, threw away the rubbish etc.
The lobby and the toilet, check.
We went to the neighbouring town where they had all the good stores. I managed to buy pants this time ^0^ from those 2nd hand shops, and some new ones. Bought more cleaning stuff. Oven cleaner, kitchen cleaner, window & glass cleaner, gloves, hard brush...
I haven't unpacked most my stuff yet. Need to do it after I clean out the room.
That night, watched 'Jailbreakers' (korean). That was funny. XD
Clean, clean, clean... A clean house is always better...
17th
Today I had to wait inside because my boxes were coming in from the storage place. Early morning, we watched 'Plastic City' (multilingual) and it was, umm...
Well, right after that I watched Super Junior's 'Super Show'. ^_^
My stuff came around 1.30 p.m. Great.
Since the washing machine was broken, we had to use the launderette a few minutes away. Called the landlord to talk about it, among other things..
Watched the movie 'Infestation' that night. Didn't have high hopes for it, but it was better than I thought it would be.
Umm.. I took no pictures that day, so here's some product placement. Mmmm~~
18th
We cleaned the kitchen.
Why do people let things blow up and splatter all over the microwave and not at least clean it off? Ugh..
Then we waited for the landlord to come. The guy's a big guy. I had a list all ready with things to talk about. He worked some washing machine magic, pulled the bathroom sink apart, tinkered with the thermostat, and showed me how to turn on the central heating.. TT^TT *happy tears*
Watched another movie, this time 'A Good Lawyer's Wife' (korean). The kind of movie where nothing is tense, except for this one bit which got me o_o. Okay movie.
More more cleaning.. hwaiting!
19th
Dealt with the gas and electricity people in the morning. I feel so grown up.
We went to Cardiff Central, 15 minutes train ride. Then to Argos to buy more home stuff. My room is tiny compared to the others and I don't even have a desk, so that was one of the things I was searching for. But I didn't find the right one so that's a mission for another day. Maybe I'll look to Ikea.
When we came home, we ate a late lunch while watching 'Tea Fight' (japanese). We enjoyed it enough.
Afterwards we started on cleaning my room. Uuughhh... At least turning the bed the other way around made it look somewhat bigger. There's a small broken mirror on the door that can't be taken off, so I'm thinking of buying a big Super Junior poster to cover it.
That night, we watched 'Yossi & Jagger' (Israel) first. It was sad, but sweet as well. Right after, we watched 'AwayDays'. It was in english, but umm, subtitles plz? ^^;; It was very... British. I didn't understand what they were saying 2/3s of the movie, but it was kinda great.
Yeah, we've been watching a lot of movies. Because there's nothing else to do. I'm hoping once my other housemates arrive that we'll talk about hooking up some sort of internet. If not, I would get one of those internet stick things. Umm.. I need to read up more on those.
20th
Went to the university.
The library was closed but we sat outside at the picnic tables next to the cafe.
THEY HAS INTERNETZ!!! :D
But it was so cold...
edit: Urk, I only have 5 minutes left of battery life.. I'll need to come back another day..
