(These calculations are based on the only info I have about what the money is used for... it is general, and not all of it goes toward what I have used it for in these calculations, but I wanted to see what we'd done in relative terms, at least). The cost of the drug Neviripine is 8 dollars - this one time dosage is a preventative measure taken to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV/AIDS. 2% of children will become infected despite the drug dosage. Without the drug, the infection rate is nearly 50% + higher.
My team raised 2,536.39. Altogether, we saved ~311 children. I, personally, saved 45 with my 370 worth of donations.
The marathon raised 384,507.80. We saved 47,103 kids from HIV/AIDS this weekend. How's that for making a difference?
