Clarithromycin

i've been taking medicine for my bronchitis since wednesday. i am not feeling any better.

i am still coughing. the capsules that are suppose to be cough suppressants are not doing anything.

and clarithromycin, what is suppose to get rid of my bronchitis, doesn't seem to do anything but make my stomach hurt horribly.

so today i decided to look up my meds and read about them

the cough suppressant, numbs the lungs to help reduce the urge to cough from chest congestion.

now, when i was at the doctor, i told him i didn't feel like i had chest congestion, that it was my throat that tickled causing me to cough.

then, i called him that evening when i got home with my medications and had talked to my mother. she told me that clarithromycin used to give me very bad stomach cramps when i was younger. i told this to my doctor, who said, "well, i don't know what i can do for you, i didn't know you had any issues with medications" i told him i wasn't aware either since i haven't had prescription drugs in ages.

then i comment on the size of the pills... i have difficulty swallowing pills. and he told me i could crush them, even though the bottle says not to.

so... when i looked it up, "Clarithromycin extended-release tablets (Biaxin XL) should be taken with food Do not crush, chew, or break an extended-release tablet. Swallow the pill whole. It is specially made to release medicine slowly in the body. Breaking the pill would cause too much of the drug to be released at one time."

and i wonder why i'm not getting better. it pisses me off even more that he could have easily written another prescription for a liquid.

i wonder why i am not feeling any better...
