This may or may not be the feminist in me talking, but I HATE beauty pageants. I hate that women's bodies are rated and scored. It's so wrong. Which one is the hottest in a bikini? Well I sure liked her boobies in that dress. I think it is shallow and archaic. I especially hate the horny old men who stare at them with impure thoughts. I think the girls and women in these pagents ought to have more respect for themselves and women as a whole than to make their own bodies the objects of these men's desires. If they don't have any respect for themselves, how can they expect men to respect them? Ugh. It's irritating to me. Of course every girl longs to be pretty. There's nothing wrong with that. God has placed that in us as one of our deepest desires as women. We want to be seen and treasured. We are still the little child twirling in her skirt for her Daddy. "Do you like what you see? Am I lovely? Are you captivated by me? Am I enough?" And it goes so much deeper than what is on the outside. Girls, you are all beautiful. Every single one. Yes, even you. Not being a super model doesn't mean you don't have a lot to offer. There are about a million things more important than how you look. The world's standard of beauty is FAKE. You don't have to be a size two to be loved.
I leave for Senior Trip tomorrow morning. I won't have internet access or a cell phone...I think. So if you want me you'll have to wait until late Saturday night.
