Eyes half-closed and mind still partially fogged with sleep, Daniel reaches out one hand, seeking out over the rumpled bed sheet. His hand stumbles upon a smooth, warm expanse of skin, and he reaches up to skim his fingertips across Hyukjae’s pale back beside him - a light touch that he flutters up over the dip at the small of his back, that runs up the bumps of the spine, that flattens over the plane of a protruding shoulder blade, resting his palm against warm, soft skin. It makes him feel warm inside, in a way he can’t explain, in a way that, if he were fully awake, would frustrate him in his futile attempts to pin it down with words.
But in this quiet, sleep-content moment, he relishes in the feeling that spreads, slow and warm and comforting, through his body. It allows him to shift forward, hand curling around the boy’s shoulder, and press a soft kiss to the bump where his neck joins his spine, hoping it conveys what he wishes he could find the words to say. He breathes, shallow, quiet, lips against sleep-warmed skin, before there’s a shifting of skinny limbs that drape around him and he is greeted with a sleepy smile and a lazy, bone-melting slide of a mouth against his own that says, I know.
