My Cousin's Wedding

Weddings were everywhere in Bloomington, Indiana this weekend.  I was there for my cousin Mark's wedding.  He's the first of my generation to get married.  The first that counts anyway.  Another cousin got married several years back, but he had only known her for 6 months and it didn't last.  His wife took his car and disappeared shortly thereafter.

Anyway, Mark married Denise and I couldn't be happier for them.  She is a wonderful person, kind and fun, beautiful and smart.  Degrees in geology and art, how cool is that!  I must say it is uplifting to know someone from my family can find a girl like that.

During the wedding ceremony I was thinking about the photographs on my grandma's dresser of of my parents', my aunts' and uncles' weddings.  It felt odd, knowing that this was that moment.  This was the time when Denise really became a part of the family... an event that the next generation will consider ancient history.

Denise comes from a big family (she's Catholic), and I think she plans to have lots of kids.  That makes me happy.  I get the feeling that they should have as many as possible because every one will be a blessing on the world.
