Why are t shirts so see-through now?
If I go shopping for a simple tee its going to show my bra or the band of my jeans. And if the shirt is opaque enough, you can see the outline of my clothing (bra strap adjusters or button of jeans) I'm sure the reason has something to do with cotton prices or fashion-in-demand. But when I see that men's t shirts are the same weight they have always been - it makes me feel like its a subtle objectification of women.
Or let me ask you another question. Why is it that when I walk through the young men's department I can find t shirts with Star Wars, or classic band logos, even a vintage looking shirt that says Coca-Cola. In the juniors department - no Star Wars, Justin Bieber, and if you want a shirt that says Coca-Cola it will be printed on super thin (burn-out) material, and the logo will be made out of glitter.
Women like Star Wars! Women like rock bands! Women don't ALWAYS want their bra showing AND rhinestone's emblazzoned across their chest! I have started buying men's shirts and taking them in at the sides so I can have a shirt that says "Goonie's Never Say Die" rather than something that is practically see through anyways and says "Cutie" and a lipstick print on it!
Am I alone in this?? Does anyone else feel that fashion is putting girls in shirts that demand they either show their assets (see through) or proclaim them ("Hottie") and guys get to wear t shirts that actually express their interests (Pink Floyd & Big Bang Theory). Like they get to have thoughts...and I get to have boobs.
