[ Today's video feed seems to be planned very carefully for once. The camera is positioned a little bit away from Kotomi, enough to show off her standing there. She's holding her violin in her hands -- if you know what this means, you know it's Bad News and you should turn off your communicator as soon as possible

[Luke was surprised--how did she even get a violin here?--but thought it was very nice of her to offer to play some music to try and cheer everyone up. That was very nice of her...and then she actually started to play the instrument. If there was one instrument that sounded almost intolerably bad when played poorly it was the violin. On the other hand a gentleman would never criticize a lady, even if that piece was almost painful to listen to. So, after a moment's hesitation:]

T-that was very nice of you, Miss Kotomi-chan, to play your violin for everyone.

Ah.. Thank you very much.

[ She actually does seem very genuinely happy, a smile appearing on her face again. ]

I just thought it was nice if my music could cheer people up a little bit.

[Be careful to not say anything mean or even any semblance of unfriendly. She was being nice, even if she wasn't very good.]

How long have you been playing the violin for?

[Video] AHAHA, ISN'T IT TERRIBLE..

I've already been playing ever since I was a little girl.. My parents told me it was good to know how to play an instrument, and I really liked the violin.

[ She points to herself. ]

There's even an instrument in my name. The first part of Kotomi is 'koto', as in harp.

[Since you were a little girl?! How is that even...]

I've been learning to play the violin. It's rather tough to learn, isn't it?

[Video] ahaha, it's just a canonical joke that her playing is super bad. It happens a few times.

It's difficult to learn, but once you know how to play it it's truly beautiful music..

[ She doesn't realise her own music is this bad though. ]

So it's really worth it.

Have you ever listened to yourself play? Recording it and playing it back?

I had a teacher tell me once it was a good way to learn your strengths and weaknesses...

[Yes, he is going to make every nonchalant and quiet suggestion to help her that he can think of, and be as polite about it as possible.]

I listened to it once.. I think it sounded really wonderful.

[ Yes, she just hears a song in her own head rather than what she actually plays. ]

Ah..well, practicing is always good...

A good musician never stop practicing--that's what my instructor taught me.

[Oh gosh, he has no idea what else to say other than: for the love of all that is good, please practice more. And that, of course, he'd never say. Ever.]

That's right.. I won't stop practicing. I've been doing so since I was a little girl, after all, so.. I'm not going to stop now.
