Obediently following the rules?

Kotomi-chan! You play the violin?

When you stand under a mistletoe, you have to kiss. That is the rule.

Yes. I really, really like playing the violin. [ She doesn't even notice she's repeating herself. ]

Ah, ya! I wonder who ever came up with that? Maybe they were drunk...

You must be very good at it, then. If you get it from Santa, will you play a song for everyone? I'd like to hear you play.

It's a story from Norse mythology. The goddess Friga proclaimed the mistletoe to be sacred after her son Baldur died from being stabbed by a spear of mistletoe but was resurrected again. Friga said that the plant would have to bring forth love instead of hatred now and so everyone celebrates Baldur's resurrection by kissing under a mistletoe. [ Kotomi specializes in the knowledge of random things. ]

You.. really want to hear me play?

[That came out of left field! He just blinks, surprised at first before he laughs, amused]

That's amazing! How did you know that off the top of your head like that?

[He nods]

I would. Is there any song that you like to play most?

I read about it once. I really like reading, too. [ Or rather, she's the resident genius of her series. ]

All songs are very beautiful. I think every song is able to convey someone's feelings.

You like reading mythology or just reading in general?

Hm. That is the best way to hear music; hearing it played by feelings.

What sort of feeling would you play in a city like this, though?

Reading anything. I especially like The Dandelion Girl.. It's my favourite book.

A feeling of happiness because we all still have each other would be nice.

Dandelion Girl? What's that about?

Ya! That's a nice choice. Would you really play it so I could hear it, if you get a violin?

A man meets a young girl who came from the future - she used a time machine to go to the past - while he's on vacation. And he falls in love with her, even though he already has a wife. But the girl's father who made the time machine dies and the time machine breaks down without anyone around to repair it, so they can't meet again.

Of course. [ Kotomi smiles. ] I play so other people who listen to it can become happy and realise how beautiful the world is.

So, it's true love? That's a bit sad, though. If they're not able to ever see one another again.

I'll be hoping Santa brings it for you, then. I bet he will, though. It's the only thing you've asked for and you seem like such a nice person. He has no reason not to.

He waited for her, though. He kept going back to the hill where they met in case she would ever come back.

Thank you. You are a really kind person too, so.. I'm sure Santa will give you what you want.

You ever think maybe she'll come back to him? If it's a time machine maybe she can go back in time to a place in time where he doesn't have to wait so long.

Ha ha! I hope so. I know I've been good. [In his perspective]

Hmm. In the end he discovers that his wife was actually the girl who travelled further back into the past and married him. And then they live happily ever after.

I'll ask Santa for something for you, too.

Ooooh! That's a good story! Happy endings are always best. [All depends on who's happy ending it is, really]

What? Really?!

I really like happy endings too.

Of course. Friends help each other and give each other gifts.
