All campus email from Jim Tranquada:
Everybody:
As some of you may already have heard, an Oxy van carrying eight students on a Geology 225 field trip this morning was involved in a traffic accident on the Antelope Valley (14) freeway. Although five of the students were transported to local hospitals as a precaution, all five were examined and released and are now back on campus. A second Oxy van on the same field trip was uninvolved -- all of those students are OK, too.

Yeah except for the fact that I was sleeping when this happened, woke up to crazy screaming, then BAM!, impact, an inability to breath, the loss of the vision out of my left eye, ambulance ride, an IV, had a CAT scan taken, had chest, neck, back, and profile x-rays taken, have a bump on my head, a seatbelt rash on my stomach, and oh yeah, a concussion.
I'm okay NOW though. AND my sunglasses were found.
As bizarre as this sounds, I'm mightly impressed that the happiest week ever could be followed by the worst weekend ever.
But I'm done complaining. I promise.
