What a week it's been!

Here are the things that happened this past week:

#1: On a road trip our car broke down on the highway about 45 minutes from our destination.   The three of us walked 2 miles to the nearest town’s gas station, down the highway and over farm fields. Called a tow truck, then we then walked back to our car to wait. We had our car towed to the nearest Chev dealership. They kept our car overnight and let us use one of their vehicles. The next day they phone us - we need a new motor in our vehicle and it’s only going to be $5700!  We decide to look around the lot for a new vehicle, we found one and decided to buy. BUT, the truck hadn’t been into the inspection shop yet. We would have to wait until morning for this, which means another night in a hotel and more meals out. Crap. Anyway, the next day the truck went through the inspection with flying colours, now we just needed to figure out what we were going to do with our dead car. We didn’t want to leave it at the dealership as they were only going to give us $200 for it. It’s a 1996 Grand Am that’s in VERY good shape so we decided to get a family member that has a flat bed trailer to bring it back home for us. We’ll probably put in a re-built motor and try and sell it. Ugh.

#2:  We are in the middle of doing renovations. We put an addition on the back of the house and the new section is not shingled so there is a giant tarp on the room covering the old part of the house and where it joins the new part. Last Sunday, the roof started leaking during our torrential down pour. In the bathroom it isn’t as big of a crisis as we are gutting it when our new one is done but it started leaking in our master bedroom. We had to clean out all the closets and try and get the water off the hardwood floors. My husband decided to go on the roof to throw on an extra tarp to stop the leaking…which leads us to #3.

#3:  While he was on the roof, he slipped on the wet tarp and fell off to the ground about 12 feet below! I took him to the hospital and he has a broken wrist which needed surgery to put pins in it, he also required stitches and wrenched his back pretty good. He has a minor fracture on his shin but it did not require a cast. I know we are lucky that he wasn’t hurt more than he was, but what the hell!

What God did we piss off that we got all this right now? Anyway, there’s the rant. I hope this weekend has no more surprises for us, I don’t know if I can remain calm if anything else happens!

family, what the hell
