I'm in love with California. Plain and simple.
Both Palo and San Francisco are my stomping grounds and I'm getting to know both pretty well.
I found a hole in the wall near North Beach that sells ancient artifacts. I spent some time looking at one of the oldest most preserved stone sculptures ever recovered in Africa (for sale at a meager quarter million). I only found the place after I notice a small sign that said "used skulls." Yup, they had lots of them. Amazing. Lots of tribal stuff and some of the most bizarre east Asian folkloric representations of common deities I've ever seen. This guy's shop is unreal and has a lot of Indian work that I can't even find in my textbooks.
I'm doing ok with the whole Kristen thing. The only thing that gets me frustrated is that she expects me to answer her texts, but never replies to mine. I'd be happy not texting or e-mailing at all . . . but I know I shouldn't burn bridges I'll need to use in the future.
I was bored last night, and went to craigslist for the first time and curiously put out a personal type thing (corny, i know). Surprisingly, I had two responses (which is impressive, because the men seeking women section for the bay area gets thousands of posts a day). Anyhow; the first is a year younger and a neuroscience/ brain surgery student from MIT who lives just outside SF and we wound up talking and facebooking for like three hours. The second just finished college and works with paleontology and shares most of the same historical fascinations. I'm really interested to meet both of them and probably will next weekend! I haven't been on a real blind date in . . . I can't even remember.
heh.
