The pain and the terror had been too much for her to handle and she had fled her body to hide deep in the Abyss. Nothing could hurt her there. Nothing could touch her there. She could go deeper into the Abyss than anyone else could and it was safer for her there. There was no pain and no fear here. She didn't bleed when she was in the Abyss. They could do what they wanted with the body. Let them have it. They wouldn't have her. They didn't want here. They wanted to do things to the body, so she would let them have it and she would stay down here and put the chalice back together. She didn't care what happened back in their world. She would stay in the Abyss and she would find all of the pieces to the crystal chalice and she would repair it.

Time didn't pass the same way in the Abyss as it did in the world above it. She had no idea how long she had gone or how many paths she had walked when she first started hearing the calls, first started feeling the desparate mind touches from those that she loved. They touches and the calls were faint and she had to find the final pieces of the chalice first. Too much had been lost when the men called the uncles had shattered the body of Jaenelle. She had made a promise -- hadn't she? -- to find all of the fractured shards and repair the chalice of self. She didn't remember whom she had made the promise to, but Witch would never break a promise.

The fear touched her even as she moved higher up out of the Abyss. Fear and anger and something else.
Taint in the Blood. Hate Harm. Evil.
She heard the call again. It was memory of a child's game she had once played with Char on the island. Chase Me, Find Me. She could feel the desparation and fear in Char's call -- not lighthearted and fun as it once was. He was scared. He was worried. Another one was with him. She recognized the psychic scent even from far down in the Abyss. She rose up, stopping at the depth of the Black to reach out.
Saetan
Witch felt rage rising from within her. Someone wrong and tainted was threatening both Saetan and Char and that was not to be allowed. They were hers and no one was going to hurt them. It was too much to be tolerated and as the rage rose up, so did Witch.
She let a fraction of her power run free over the island of the Cildru Dyathe...
...when the witch storm of power faded, Saetan and Char were gone and all but one of those that threatened them were dead. The one that survived quickly ran from the remnants of too much power.
