Photography question

I've always been into photography, and I took a class for a little bit at Citrus which was really great, but I still don't know a ton about it (even though I know a bit more than most people). I've got a digital camera that's really nice and I like a lot, but I've always wanted a real nice film camera. And since I'm going to be taking some classes ( Read more... )

1. Add me to your journal? Maybe?
2. Your SN tobyferret makes me think of Labyrinth every time I see it. How'd the nickname Toby come about?
3. Cameras...it depends on what you mean by insanely expensive. I've found some good package deals on www.frys.com and www.bestbuy.com and ritzcamera.com for some SLR cameras. I've heard Nikon and Pentax are some of the best you can buy. I ran into a woman at the wildlife park we went to a few weeks ago (www.outofafricapark.com) that was shooting using a Nikon D40...granted that was digital. But it was a digital SLR and she had a fish eye telephoto lens. *DROOL* Again, I've seen some deals online for the camera body/base and lens, granted not telephoto lens alas, for around 650. I'm thinking though you may end up spending at least 400 to get something decent...though there is a chance you could find something on sale because I think film is going the way of the artist. That is, it's going to end up becoming something you use for it's artistic quality but maybe not something necessary to be in the industry. (Although I have heard that FBI still uses film over digital for crime scene photos).(Wow, I used though/although far too much in this paragraph but it's almost four in the morning so I think my brain is now on auto pilot).
4. WHY CAN'T YOU LIVE IN THE SAME STATE AS ME?????
(I've only taken one photography class in college...but I love it...I have a SLR Minolta that I got on sale for 100 dollars and despite not being cutting edge it still takes great pix. I also have a mini dv camcorder that takes stills, assuming it ever decides to work...I finally got my hands on a memory card, pc memory card adaptor, to put in the camcorder and it won't recognize that they're there...).
Sorry for yammering insanely.

Hi!
Added you :) I noticed we have a lot in common, even though your profile isn't long :)
I write way too much most of the time too, and I love reading so I don't mind when other people write a lot :) I'm just weird like that I guess :)
