I was just two and a half years old the day John F. Kennedy was shot, so I have no recollection of the event itself. But I do remember my parents talking about it for years to come. And because I share a birthday with this president, I feel a kind of connection with him. And, like him, I was raised in an Irish, Catholic family ( Read more... )

Thanks. *G*

Do you feel that JFK birthday connection, too? I think you're the only other person I know with the same bd.

*nods* I can certainly understand that. I hope it doesn't make your day too sad.

I was born the year after Robert Kennedy was killed. However when I was old enough to learn about their lives I realized by birthday fell in between Robert Kennedy's and the day of the assasination. Maybe a little strange but I felt connected to that. I am also from an Irish Catholic family but a friend's family really gave me my sense of the importance of that time for our country. I also have the prayer card you refer to as well as many pictures. I know there was no idealized life however I look at the place our country was in before Nov. 22nd and the place it was after and I think everyone lost a great deal that day.

Special thoughts for your other losses as well. Thank you for sharing with us.
