For My Fan Club

I am writing today for all of you avid readers who read Katie's journal to hear Erica stories...I know you're out there!!

Actually I'm stuck in Portland between classes and instead of beating my head against the table or reading Carl Marx (same thing) I decided to write. YAY
So what's been going on in the last month since I updated?? Let's see Christmas!!

Christmas was super fun...spending some time with the family was good. Even though I ended up getting sick, and had to share a twin sized bed with the twins because "the like to cuddle." I took them both to church with me on Christmas Eve. There were TONS of people there (you know the C&E people) and the twins were GREAT...there was one point when the people in front of us raised their hands while we were singing (some people do that in worship) and Julia decided it was a good time to raise her new stuffed cat into the air. The woman next to us informed Julia that "we do not worship cats here" Julia put it down, I thought it was hysterical...give me a break, she's 5 and she sits through church services better than you lady. ANYWAY...then she was made at me because she didn't get to go to the Nursery...even though she never asked to go. And of course no coffee hour on Christmas Eve...a five year olds worst nightmare. I really liked being there though, and I liked having them with me, some family members get annoyed that it's the same service EVERY year. Erica, who fears change and values tradition (and could recite the entire service from memory) LOVES IT.

I got to go see my dad's family that night...mostly I talk to Amy, my cousin, who has the baby Lily. Lily was born with Spina Bifida but maybe the happiest child I've even met, and she's adorable!

On Christmas business commenced as usual, we went back to the church, and much to our surprise there was my Aunt Linda who lives in Colorado...she jsut showed up, without telling anyone...so that was fun.

I came back to school the 26th to prepare for my journey acrossed the Atlantic Ocean!! Yeah, it was awesome.

We left on the 30th and flew through the night...arrived in London early in the morning on the 31st (NEW YEARS EVE) and took off into the city. It was great we saw a lot of the city and then we were free to wonder around. It was nuts though, they blocked off a lot of the streets to try to control the people. We didn't know what was going on as far as fire works and stuff...so we wondered until we reached a spot we thought would be ok...Within like 15 minutes of us being there there were suddenly like 5 million people around us (no exaggeration) They were playing this crazy music which at first made me feel like I was on drugs, but after a while I started to like it (scary I know.) They had a moment of silence for the tsunami victims (that's right MILLIONS of people, many of whom were drunk, in COMPLETE silence for 2 minutes) it was amazing! Then Big Ben started ringing and the most incredible fireworks show EVER started!! I can't even explain it, the entire sky was glowing in front of us...all over, we were right by the action. They also set them off the Eye (London's giant ferris wheel) it was so cool!! We tried to get out and got smushed into millions of people...it was insane...I could literally pick up my feet and still be in an upright position there were so many people packed into such a small space. We ended up just waiting for the crowd to clear and walking back to the hotel because it was to insane to try to get on the tube or get a cab or anything. We managed to navigate around London pretty well in the dark and all...
Ok Sorry kids time for class....more later, I swear!
