So I started writing journal entries this summer but my ethernet card had died so I couldn't post...so I'll post some of it here now for your enjoyment. I better get lots of comments because I wrote this just for you!!
July 1st
Here I sit in the land where days start and end just a little bit earlier. Where small animals crafted as lamps bring much more joy than any television sit-com or “comedy” film. Where sitting at the lake all afternoon without really “doing” anything is the most profitable use of your time. That’s right friends, I am writing from Belgrade. I brought my computer so that upon my arrival to the big city (Hallowell) I can update my journal, since I have done a lot since my last post.
July 5
I think I will work backwards just for the fun of it, starting with the most recent and working my way back with subtitles so if you can’t read the whole thing you can come back to where you left off…
Belgrade Lakes…5 fun filled days….
July Fourth was interesting. Generally we have TONS of people out in Belgrade having a grand old time. However this year was different. Things kept happening so people couldn’t come. Brian was working, Adam was away, Brandon was being Brandon. Kim and Jared were at Mechuwana, and Aunt Sharon and Uncle Paul were home because of the complications from Uncle Paul’s hip surgery. So the final count was up to Mom, Scott, the twins, me, Roni, her friend Erica and Will. We managed to get Nana for a couple of days (which was great). Danica happened to call (Will’s girlfriend) and we convinced her to come out with her brothers, her mom and aunt. Sue showed up later that night. It was weird not to have the usual crew there, but we managed to have fun anyway… we ended up with WAY too much food but I suppose worse things could happen.
I discovered credit cards. I’ve thought a few times that it would come in very handy. Sometimes I get stuck places with no money and it’s not good (like when my glasses break while I’m at camp and my parents are on vacation so I can’t get a hold of them and I have no money to get them fixed.) Anyway…I have one now…my glasses are on that…here’s hoping I never max it out.
In other news, I purchased a digital camera. All I need now is to figure out how to order prints online. I have found lots of websites that give out free prints. My goal is to register for all of them, figure out which sites have the best prints and then go from there. It’ll be fun.
The Rooster Lamp
OOOOHHH….I almost forgot to tell you all about the rooster lamp. HAHAHA…July 2nd mom dragged me to some scummy antiques place in Rome, and I fell in love with this ridiculous ceramic rooster, mostly because I knew it would drive mom crazy, and would likely get us out of there sooner. The rooster was $16 and needless to say that was too much for me to spend, even to torment mom. We decided the next day to go for a hike, so we went up French’s Mountain and mom claims she saw signs for some barn sale. So we find it and it turns out to be maybe 20 strange items in some old barn. And guess what we found?? A rooster lamp. It looked a lot like the rooster we had seen the day before except it was a lamp…and it was only $5. I was pretty much hysterical when I saw it and Nana decided that I really needed to have it, so she bought it for me. We laughed so hard. The twins LOVED it. Scott liked it mostly because mom didn’t. I convinced Ashley that we got it to put in our new bedroom…which she FLIPPED about. We had so much fun with that rooster lamp Nana definitely got her money’s worth. All weekend we kept seeing things for sale with roosters on it…it became the running joke.
Ok well....I'll give you a little bit more a little bit later...if you want to know what I'm doing these days...read Katies journal, she does a much better job than I do!!!
