Mr Wizard Here....

Well here I am again. For a while I thought that I was back onto a "normal" sleep pattern but now, once again, I am up til 3-5 every morning. But, I believe I have figured out why I cant ever sleep at night. My problem is I get overly bored. At night when no one is around I get bored and my mind starts going with a million ideas. Once one starts it leads to another and another til the next thing I know it is 4:30 and I look at the clock like "oh snap". Amazingly though I have come up with some pretty interesting ideas recently. Here are just a few that stick out in my head right now.

-Automotive
Since my car is being a bitch lately I have come up with many builds I would like to do.
#1 - Late model ranger with either 3.8 supercharged from a supercoupe or 4.6 DOHC. Keep a ford in a ford. Shouldnt be too bad and can keep it stick without much problem, just a custom drive shaft, maybe a little custom wiring, but other than that it should be like butta.
#2 - Dont laugh - Miata with 3-rotor. And either single or for the hell of it and to look cool triple turbos. Just imagine the possibilites. Get that car up to 500 HP easy and with the way it handles there wouldnt be many cars that can touch it. Granted every part in that car would have to be beefed way up to handle that power and you would have to watch out for it getting too hard to handle at high speeds but it would be fun none the less.
#3 - This one makes perfect sense to me and I have no idea why no one else has done it. Sport bike with a rotary. High revs, not too much torque, sounds perfect for a bike to me. Plus even without the turbo you can get a 1.3 to make 180HP no problem. I even have sketched up a few drawing of engine and trans layout in a single cast block that would give ample room to hold everything while still keeping the weight low. But now think of this, 3-rotor, 250cc or so per rotor, probably an easy 15-16000rpm. There is an model plane rotary that is 5cc and makes 1.27HP. Take those numbers and work it out into 750cc and you get 190.5HP. I guarantee with FI and other advancements we have now that it could easily be done.

-Electronics
I am just always thinking of different things I could do.
#1 - Just imagine it for a second and go with me. Take either a PS1 or PS2 and build a computer into it. Keep it all stock looking on the outside, but inside have the entire workings of a computer. A mini ITX board would easily fit in there and VIA motherboard with s-video and tv-out built in. I figure if I add a decent sized hard drive and use a dvd drive then I could build the ultimate multimedia system. Add emulators and roms for NES, SNES, Genesis, NeoGeo, Intellivision, Atari, Playstation, Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, well you get the idea. Then also have complete codecs for every video and audio type and you could play dvds, cds, pc games, or even just store all your music on the HDD and use it as the ultimate audio library. Wireless keyboard and mouse would be easy and PS2 controllers could be easily modded inside the system so they could still be used.
#2 - For those of you who have played the game, Guitar Hero rocks. All I want to do is build controller out of a real guitar. Put the buttons in the frets, put the strum bar between the pickups, even make it wireless so you arent confined by the stupid cable at all. Just stand up and jam out. It could even be wired with a rechargable battery pack inside that you could use a usb cable and charge it right from the ps2.

So there you have it, just a few ideas that have been eating away at my brain. The problem is that I want to build all of them and no means to do it all with. I think that I just need to start on something and give my mind a workout to keep me from doing this all the time. Ok Rowe, here is the plan, when I get up there you are going to get the parts you need and either with your help or not that motor in going in that car. I am goign to need something to do and if it is there I will get it done. I hope you have all the tools cause I hate draggin my tools everywhere. And you better damn well have air tools and a compressor. Deal? Deal. OK.
