To ALL,
I went to this presentation last night called "Call for Duty," and I must say that it was enlightening. I am not much of an activist, as it is difficult for me to put energy into most causes because of how complex they are at heart.
However, last night's presentation on the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" made it pretty obvious that the law is wrong. A group of six veterans, all gay and lesbian, told their stories about the policy. A few were openly gay and still remained because of their skills. Some were discharged because of rumours. Either way, the pressure that they face in their military endeavours is tremendous.
Basically, this law still permits the ban on homosexuality/bisexuality in the American military. If found out, a gay man or woman is honourably discharged, even after serving years protecting our country. Imagine being told that your service lacks worth because of your sexuality...
Please send a letter to Congressman Duncan Hunter of San Diego stating that we need to bring this issue back up in Congress, and that the ban on gays in the military should be lifted.
That's all... Make a difference!
Ryan
