My speech

Some ppl have asked me to post my graduation speech so here it is...

Dr. Deprez, Teachers and Faculty, Graduates of the Class of 2005, family, and friends:

Good evening. I stand before you tonight because I managed to attain the highest grade point average in the class. For some reason, this means that I should be able to impart some final wisdom, a glimmer of insight that motivates us to step forward into the future. Unfortunately, those of you that know me also know that I am perhaps not the most prolific source of common sense. I would encourage you to think before you take advice from someone who just recently stuck his head between the legs of a stool during a lockdown drill and could not get it out. Consider this a caveat for the rest of my speech: success not guaranteed, take at your own risk, and so on.

Graduations brim with emotions that transcend descriptive powers; they are exciting and auspicious, unsettling and daunting, yet at the same time signify so much more. As we move forth from this stage of our lives into the pristine and hazy future, we must remember this occasion-not as the closing of a door on our pasts but as the completion of a foundation from which to build the edifice that is to be our mark on the world. This is not the incipiency of a new path but merely a branch forged off the old.

The essence of my advice is this: continue to grow and flourish, flout the impossible, and dare to challenge convention. And in doing so, remember the experiences and memories that have shaped your character and spirit. Take what you have learned and pass on something significant to future minds. Do not hesitate to take a chance.

In the words of Albert Einstein, “The tragedy of life is what dies inside a man while he lives.” I urge you to live life passionately. Discover, invent, or create something. Write a novel. Run for president. Cure cancer. But do not let your aspirations go to waste.

Thank you.
