So about a month ago I took a bad tumble and hurt my ankle... A week not walking on it, and then a week using a cane (and wearing black to work, so everyone could call me House) and it was kind of OK.
It got bad again on Friday and I just came back to the doctor: I'm off for an MRI in two weeks. I probably had a piece of bone chip off and imbed in the cartelige. Hopefully no surgery... I know it's not a knee, but I REALLY don't want to have Ant's experience.
In happier news I spent our government handout on a new camera (Canon 450D...). It really is sooo cool. It's a total low light photography dream; I can only imagine how good the 5D Mk II is with the bigger chip. The video is amazing. Given it records in full HD quality I'm not suprised, and with an Image Stabelized lense it's fantastic.. But I'm think I'll need a new 1TB hard drive soon. Pauline tells me that has nothing to do with the bonus.. Which is cool, becasue that means there is still $900 of unregulated spending to come :-)
For my non Australian friends: Our semi-socialist PM Chairman Rudd decided that the best way to solve an economic downturn was to give everyone who earns less than me $900 to spend ($8Bil in total, but Pauline and Abi still get it) - and then tell everyone to go and spend it. Not to retire debt, but to splurge and put money into retailers hands. TVs, Clothes, Cameras, holidays (domestic of course), etc. And this isn't the first time.
Gotta love that. The economic equivelent of dropping money from a helicopter in the parking lot of a shopping mall. At least I have a sexy new camera.
BTW: I'll be selling my old 350D, with original kit lense, batrry grip and extra bettery on eBay in a week or so. But if you know anyone who wants to buy a good condition Canon 350D SLR for about $600-$700 (1/3 of new) then let me know.
