today was crap, except for my family.
my mom and dad had to go to a party at the boathouse, so they gave us money to order pizza. they gave us a little too much money, however, and i'm ashamed to say we went a little crazy. we ordered the pizza (a large and a small, which is an obscene amount of pizza for three people, one of whom is 11 years old), and went to pick it up, and then, despite the toasty weight of pizza boxes in our laps, we decided to get dessert. we toyed with the idea of graeters for a while, until my brother suggested 'dude, why don't be just get a cake?'
and so we did. a chocolate fudge cake from our local kroger bakery. i have the fattest family in town, and i am so one of them. or will be frighteningly soon. my favorite part was when leah started clearing her homework from the table and she was like 'peter, do you remember that time you told me that 'plates are only for when mom is home?' peter just looked at her and said flatly 'leah, that still applies, put those napkins away. save the forest.'
so i love pbs. i'm going to work for a public brodcasting station when i'm an adult, i've determined. honestly, tonight their programming lineup was: "the elegant universe: quantum theory demystified" or something like that, immediately followed by a 70's funk tribute. right now i'm listening to the shaft theme as performed by isaac hayes, i think it was. i love how this man who was supposed to be the like, paragon of black male sexuality has a prominent flute line in his theme song. it is so awesome. wow, shaft was a grade-a badass.
guys, i'm a complicated woman, and no one understands me but my man. can you dig it?
but honestly, pbs has something for everyone. and everyone is me. did you know that cuba gooding jr's dad (aka cuba gooding sr.) was a 70's funk all-star? and that he looks a ton like his son? learn something new every day.
