I had a solid day. Four social engagements, and I was about two minutes early to each one. This is a good thing, since in the last two years I've developed a serious tardiness problem. Of course, being on time means you have to wait, but it was worth it to not feel like a jerk when sitting down. I was beat Claire to lunch, beat Temkin to dinner, showed up to pick Kathryn up at 9:43, and called Molly at 12:26, when I told her I'd call at 12:30. Of course, she was asleep and hadn't turned off her phone like I'd suggested, which meant I woke her up. But she didn't say that I'd woken her up, which meant that she probably wanted to talk (I told her to go ahead and go back to sleep). There's a slight possibility she fell asleep trying to stay awake for my call, but I don't want to flatter myself. I'm not that interesting.
Another story from Laguna: My brother and I played a game the six days we were there. He tried to spot Ferraris and I tried to spot black people. You'll be happy to know that, though they trailed for the first 4 days of the competition, black people came from behind, making themselves seen an astonishing three times in the last two days, to win 7-6. So thank god for equality.
