One Particular Nut in My Family Tree.
...So. As some of you may know, about 5 or 6 years ago, my dad decided he was Jewish. Which is fine in and of itself. If he wants to follow Jewish religious things, more power to his incarcerated ass.
...However, you can't become Jewish. You are either born Jewish, or you're not Jewish. It's not the same as following the religion, it's an actual ethnicity.
And so, the loose screw that I know as my father has got it into his head that somewhere down the line, my Gramma's mother was Jewish, not Native American as we all thought. Why does he believe this? Because he dreamed it 3 times.

As for further proof that he's a nutjob, or at least trying too hard, he has proceeded to be convinced that both myself and my mother are Jewish because apparently my mom's mom once told him that her family was Jewish.
Wwwrooong. Ridenour is not a Jewish name. My family is from Alsace. I can trace that line back to the 1300s. Not a sign of a Jew amongst us. ...And you know what? I really do think that SOMEONE would have told me if I really was Jewish. Which no one did. But no. He is convinced. I don't know if he REALLY believes it, or if he's just being...I dunno. Something.
...Ugh. My gramma gave me papers to sign and send in so that I can go visit him in the prison in Hutchinson. But I don't think I'll go. He scares me a little, and I don't speak Hebrew. And I can't write him, because I don't know how to start the letter. I cant call him dad, I haven't seen him since I was...what, 5 or so?
....I dunno. It's depressing.
