Heyy, i made a new wallpaper. Jack/Kate, no less! And possibly the quickest i have made anything in a looong time (started and finished in the same day! AMAZING.) Can i just say how much i love how common huuuuugely high resolution images are these days? There was a time when you probably couldn't find pictures any bigger than 700 pixels wide. Now shit's like, 20 bajillion x 40 bajillion. IT'S AWESOME.

800x600 I also wrote a tiny Firefly... fic... snippet... thing. The whole reason i did it was for Mal and Kaylee. (it's actually based on a dream i had! in which i was sort of Kaylee! thus, plot=none, pointless=very yes.) It is entirely short and fluffy. Uhhh, woo?
Two days missing after a job gone wrong, Mal walks onto Serenity with nothing to show for himself but a shallow knife-wound to his gut and a not-so-grand tale of heroicalness. He almost had to resort to eating bugs.
He wants to reprimand them for staying in one place for so long, but if they hadn't he'd be in a bit of a pickle about now. His temperament at the moment isn't one for scolding.
Jayne looks up from his weights and grunts at him, and then it seems to register that Mal's been missing for two days.
"Mal! ...We were thinkin' you died."
"Yeah, it's a real funny story. Even involves ponies. You mind notifyin' the doctor he's got a little stitchin' to do?"
Jayne walks back to the infirmary hollering to the rest of the ship. "CAP'N'S BACK!"
Soon after, Zoe, Wash, and Book rush out onto the catwalk and smile jubilantly down at him.
"Nice of you to join us, sir."
"Got a bit delayed. Thanks for not runnin' off with my ship."
"You mean my ship?"
"Right. That one. I reckon I'll be takin' it back now."
As Wash starts to ask what happened during the happy friendly good times when Mal almost died, Kaylee walks out peering at the rest of the crew. "I thought I heard..." She trails off as she looks down at the floor of the cargo bay and sees Mal.
"CAP'N!"
She runs downstairs remarkably fast and leaps to hug him, wrapping both legs around his waist and squeezing him tighter than death. She quietly mumbles into his neck, "Thought you died, Cap'n."
"So I've heard."
The pain in his side is something fierce, but he smiles into her hair all the same.
Jayne returns with Simon, and Mal gestures at Kaylee with his arms wrapped around her. "Sorry, doc, I seem to have... an appendage covering the wound."
"Oh! You're hurt?" Kaylee hops back to the floor and releases him, stepping back and looking him over as though she's picked up some sort of medical expertise from Simon.
"It ain't nothin', little Kaylee. No more'n a scratch. Not even painful."
She smiles warily and stands on tiptoes to kiss him on the cheek. "Ya ain't always gotta act so tough."
He thinks one day she'll get it through her head that a man like him doesn't deserve attention like this. Today is obviously not that day.
