Alias - The Index
Wait a second, was that, like... a decent episode? I was vaguely reminded of s1 and 2. Maybe because they used all the same locations, i don't know!
Seeing Vaughn and Weiss talk to Sloane remains very, very weird. Weiss! Getting nervous explaining why he was with Nadia at night! Hee!
Syd and Vaughn: still suck. Seeing Vaughn talk about his family was very... strange. I don't even see him as the same character anymore, so when he brought up his dad and mom and uncle i was like "wait, why are YOU talking about them? You're not Vaughn." All the stuff with his uncle seemed out of place. Well, okay, that first hospital scene, with Vaughn standing in the dark- that was pretty and sad. I liked that. It's just... i just watched the rerun of All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues. I'm sorry, Vaughn, but Jack's daddy issues in a hospital were SO MUCH BETTER than your daddy issues in a hospital. FUCK ALL, if they make his dad alive, i'm gonna be PISSED. No no NO. Bill Vaughn is DEAD DEAD DEAD. And also, apparently, had very illegible handwriting.
So, that was the dinner scene from Page 47, like, exactly. Nadia = Emily, Weiss = Will (*single tear*). I used to really like callbacks, how they tie stuff together and make it all seem continuous and cool, history repeating itself and inverting itself and whatever, but MAN. They've done it so much that now it just seems like they're out of ideas. Still, it was funny how Syd got the call from Dixon and said it was Vaughn as her cover, and in Page 47 she got the call from Vaughn and said it was Francie as her cover. How things change. Weiss talking about the hybrid cars and Jack totally bringing it down with his speech about the energy crisis was hilaaaaaarious. Oh, Jack. You're such a buzzkill. And that is why i love you, you social butterfly!
Dixon did stuff! Yay Dixon! DUDE, the self-storage warehouse! SOB! Just seeing that place made it feel like old times. They even had the crickets chirping away in the background. Sigh. Yes, Dixon, it WAS a romantic meeting place, thankyouverymuch. All those times Syd and Vaughn had clandestine sex there can attest to that! ... Oh, wait. No, yeah, that actually happened. YEP. Chain-link fence! AAAAAAAHHHHHH, I REMEMBER WHY I LOVED THEM! Oh god, i need to go weep in a corner. Someone get me a black veil to wear.
Hey, did you know Vaughn's dad is dead? Because he is.
Oh, MAN, i almost forgot. Syd and Weiss with the set-up in France, yelling at each other in french- that cracked me UP. So awesome. Nevermind that the use of "Are You Gonna Be My Girl?" was tooootally behind the times. It's still an enjoyable song, and it always did make me think of Syd. FOR REALLY REAL. Actually, it felt like that whole mission was pretty entertaining. I think it had more tension, because she was hiding stuff from Nadia, and that made it better. LIKE OLD TIMES!
Nadia saving Jack in the end was FUCKING GREAT. Well, first of all, just careening in there with the car and shooting the guys was awesome. And Nadia! saved! Jack! That just rules. I'm really, really, really, REALLY fond of the whole "Nadia totally reminds Jack of Irina like whoah" thing. Because she SO DOES. So every time Jack looks at her, i think he's thinking of Irina, and there's so much sadness and pain attached to that, and it just makes it FANTASTIC. Gaaaaaaaaaahhhh. JACK I LOVE YOU. (hahaahahajdgf, i seem to say that a lot nowadays, eh? EH? Yes.)
WHAT IN THE FUCKING FUCK ARE JACK AND SLOANE UP TO? I want to know. It's good that they're hinting at an overarching plot, it just needs... more. Like, more than one line every five episodes. But this ep was quite a step in the right direction! I am actually intrigued! Don't you love that, after all this time, we still have no idea what Sloane's motives are or what the hell he's doing? That kook! Always keeping us guessing!
PLEASE KEEP BILL VAUGHN DEAD.
