I missed tv this weekend because i wound up going to Islands of Adventure on Sunday and finally got to see the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! The visit was a total surprise from my best friend and IT WAS AWESOME. It really took me a stupidly long time to go there considering i've been whining about wanting to go since it opened while only living an hour and a half away and driving past it at least once a month. I go to Disney constantly but there's less to do at the other theme parks so i skip over them for years at a time, which makes them a little more special when i finally do go back. Anyway HARRY POTTER! Between this and having just signed up for Pottermore i'm sort of at a place that's like, aw, wizard shit. :) The movies are over and the fandom baggage is behind me so i can just casually enjoy the cute fun magic stuff.
Fringe
uggghhhhhh this episode was so great
NICK LANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY FINALLY EXPLAINED HOW LINCOLN KNEW HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT WAS... NOT THAT ASTONISHING AFTER ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hahaha i was like YAAAYYYY THEY EXPLAINED-- oh, that's it? Huh.
It always makes me so so happy when the Cortexiphan kids come back into play, probably in large part because it centers the action on Olivia, but also just because it's a really compelling part of the show's mythology. The scene of Olivia hooked up to Redverse Nick felt like old times.
Everybody bidding farewell to their alternate and/or altverse buddies was SO SAD. They finally give us all this great double universe action and THE OLIVIAS ACTUALLY TALKING TO EACH OTHER FOR ONCE and then they immediately shut the door on it. :( I suppose this probably means we're not gonna see Redverse again for the last two episodes, since that sure felt like a forever goodbye. WHAT IF THEY'D CANCELLED THE SHOW AND THAT WAS THE LAST WE EVER SAW OF THEM???!??! AND LINCOLN AND ALTLIVIA NEVER MADE OUT??!??!?!?!? At this point that just seems downright spiteful. But in keeping with my subconscious being entirely populated by fandom shit, last night i dreamt that they made out in an alleyway except Blueverse Lincoln looked more like Redverse Lincoln, and Altlivia was the aggressor because of course she was. IT WAS AWESOME
Given how much time i've spent wishing Peter didn't exist, i was surprised that i really felt Walter's relief when he didn't blink out of existence when they shut off the machine. IDK I LIKED PETER IN THIS EPISODE. Sometimes that dude is okay. I guess when he's not monopolizing screentime over other awesomer characters and is instead just being supportive from the sidelines.
OLIVIAAAAAAAAAS talkin' 'bout rainbows and totally liking each other :********) I cried so much when they said goodbye because i am gross and pathetic, and then the Astrids waving to each other just straight-up wrecked me. UGH. And the WALTERS, fffffffffff that hallway scene was ridiculously affecting, but when you take into account that it was ONE ACTOR PLAYING BOTH PARTS that is like... what. How. I can never get over it! The separate characters seem like totally separate people!
SO RELIEVED THAT WE GOT A SEASON FIVE PICKUP, HOLY SHITBALLS. That seriously made my week. I went into this season under the assumption that it would be the last, but as it went on i wasn't really preparing myself for the end and then before i knew it we had three episodes left and i wasn't ready for a series finale. I'm really hoping that a short final season with a definitive end point will make them pull out all the stops and do something great. Preferably involving Olivia and Altlivia making out in a hail of gunfire as both worlds collapse around them and universes are reborn in their image haha i mean what
Game of Thrones
Shit, i was expecting so much more time with Renly! That was weirdly abrupt! Like it's obvious that anyone vying for the Iron Throne is going to die, because there's always going to be a constant revolving door of people vying for the Iron Throne, but i still was expecting Renly to become a little bit more of a major player. But he also seemed like a reasonable fellow who was well-liked so of course he would bite it. And this answers one of my questions from last week which was: where the fuck and to what purpose was Melisandre giving birth to that shadow demon? Now i know! THANKS. Although really my main question from last week was a more concise: WHAT THE FUCK?
BRIENNE AND CAT, BRIENNE AND CAT, BRIENNE AND CAT! I'm super worried for both of them but Brienne pledging loyalty to Cat was awesoooommmmmmeeeee
SHUT THE FUCK UP, SHIRTLESS GENDRY. HOW DARE YOU. THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Arya giving him swordfighting pointers was the bessssttt. They're so great together. BROS :*)
Arya's scene with Tywin was RAAAAAAD
BABY DRAGONS!!!!!!!!!!!! Man, i was convinced it was gonna turn out they only like to eat humans, so i was a tiny bit disappointed that it just turned out they needed to cook their own meat. It's so nice to see Dany doing things again instead of just wasting away in a desert; it's been such a bummer to watch things going so badly after her triumphant s1 finale.
And speaking of the s1 finale, i guess that was the first and last time i was super into Dany/Jorah because now i'm like oh nooooooo. She's so not into it. :/
