well your mama kept you but your daddy left you

That shot near the end of everybody sitting at the table across from their alternate was EVERYTHING I HAVE EVER WANTED. If both Astrids and both Charlies had been there it would have been perfect. ;______; But while i'm super happy that pretty much everybody got utilized in these past two episodes, which is what i've been wanting from this season all along... i'm bummed that alt-Broyles(/shapeshifter-Broyles) and Nina are evil. I know they need to switch up some things, and Walternate being more sympathetic is a nice example of that, buuuut i don't want characters i like to be one-note bad guys. :/

I DO, HOWEVER, LOVE SHIPPING EVERY POSSIBLE PERMUTATION OF OLIVIA/LINCOLN/ALTLIVIA/ALT-LINCOLN. "You're funny-looking." oh my god you assholes make out or i'm going to kill you. The Altlivia/Lincoln scene was the greatest though because aaahhhh Altlivia and Frank broke up again aaahhhh Lincoln wants to know if his and Olivia's alt-versions are together aaaahhhhhh. I guess i just really enjoy the idea of every version of a person being in love with every version of someone else, like the foundation for each one of them is always paired with the other. I suppose that's just another way of phrasing "destiny"... which is a concept i'm somewhat averse to, so i'm not sure exactly what i'm getting at. It's more like... constants and variables. (SO I GUESS I'M JUST TYING THIS BACK TO LOST, BASICALLY. :|) Not that they're destined to be together, but rather their natures as people always remain similar enough to some sort of baseline that they consistently end up drawn to each other, like a pattern. Although that still disregards the point of having actual, different versions of a person with a different set of experiences and a different personality who makes different choices... but then juxtaposing that with some sort of constant is what's appealing? IDK IDK IDK it just always gets me when feelings carry over to different versions of the same people, or develop in the same way -- part of why i liked Lost's sideways world, or why as far as i got with Dollhouse (beginning of s2, the Priya episode) i shipped Victor and Sierra, or why i liked what happened with Jackie and Pete Tyler on Doctor Who.

The Elizabeth/Walter scene was amaaaaaaaaaaaazing not least because they referenced "White Tulip" and my eyes turned into waterfalls and my heart withered and turned to dust. I LOVE ELIZABETH SO MUCH, she is so lovelyyyyyyy and badass and i wish she could meet her alternate because waaaaahhhhhhhhh SO SAD. ;________; And really everything about getting to see alt-Elizabeth and Walter interact as themselves, since the only other time we've seen them together was in "Peter" when he was pretending to be Walternate. It was amazing to see them both together as they are now, and her giving him his white tulip moment, which was once again his forgiveness delivered by another person rather than as a sign from God (because in Fringe, people ARE God, and both of those moments were things that shouldn't technically be possible: a man traveling through time, a woman crossing universes to converse with a widowed version of her husband).

So if at the end of the last episode we learned that Olivia is supposed to die... and at the end of this episode Olivia almost died by being cut in half by the portal, and the reason she stopped was because of Peter... was that a moment where September saw her dying but never saw Peter stopping it because Peter is still not supposed to exist? I realize we have yet to get into the whole "man who's going to kill me" business so i'm really just pulling this out of my ass, i just think it's interesting that the one variable that stopped Olivia from what looked like a very likely death-by-portal-slice was Peter, the one thing that isn't supposed to be there. Could it be like Lost (I KNOW, SHUT UP ABOUT LOST), where the one thing preventing Charlie's death over and over again was Desmond???????? Which is incidentally pretty much what the next episode looks like it's going to cover. So.

I'm still pretty pissed about this "Olivia has to die" bullshit though. The main thing that held me back from liking last week's episode as much as this one was that Olivia was sidelined for the whole thing right up until the cliffhanger saying she's gonna die. So the only thing that made her important in that episode was her supposed impending death. WHICH IS A BUNCH OF CRAPPING SHIT. The worst thing about Amberverse is that, now that Peter's back, Peter is the only one of our "original" characters and is basically our POV character and BLUGGGHHHHHH GO BACK TO NOT EXISTING, WHY DOES THIS KEEP GETTING DIVERTED FROM BEING THE OLIVIA SHOW, I HATE EVERYTHING

It's so pathetically exciting when Astrid gets more than one line. Like i'm so happy that she's getting something to do that it makes me sad because of how rare it is. ONLY TWO WEEKS TILL THE ASTRID EPISODE THOUGH, RIGHT??!??!?!?!!?!?!? :D :D :D :D :D
