Sometime last year i had been wondering why An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge was referenced on the show (Locke flipped through it in the hatch) if they didn't all die in the plane crash, but now its relevance is completely clear. Man, everyone keeps mentioning that story! I went ahead and read it online since I was already spoiled. So, Ambrose Bierce is basically the inventor of the "HE WAS DEAD AND IT WAS ALL A DREAM" twist ending, eh?
But i'm sure everyone else was ecstatic about it, and i did totally yell "WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!" Oh, Lapidus. We freaked the fuck out and high-fived. At first, we were wondering what the hell they were seeing, and then I saw an arm go up, and I recognized the captain's outfit and thought about who would be floating around in the water and I yelled, "LAPIDUS!!!!!!" AND IT WAS.
HURLEY BECAME THE ISLAND PROTECTOR (AND BEN HIS RICHARD!!!) WTF SO AWESOME. SO, SO AWESOME. THEY WILL BE THROWING HOT POCKETS AT EACH OTHER FOR CENTURIIIIIIES.
Jack and Hurley = Harry and Neville. HUGO REYES IS NEVILLE LONGBOTTOM. THINK ABOUT IT. Oooh.
Okay, the Jack vs. Locke deathmatch: GREATEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE. EVER. EVEREVEREVEREVER. I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THIS SHOW COULD DO EPIC SHIT LIKE THAT. Fucking goddamn hell. The 300 Jack-punch-leap cut to commercial was totally badass. Like a comic book issue ending. TO BE CONTINUED.
OH HEY, ALTERNA-JACK'S APPENDIX SCAR: NOT REALLY AN APPENDIX SCAR. WTF SO AWESOME. Oh yeeeeeah, I caught the neck thing but forgot about that one.
KATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! KATE SHOT LOCKE LIKE A FUCKING BADASS!!!!! "I SAVED YOU A BULLET." AJDFSJASHGFHJG KAAAAAAAAAATE!!!!!!!!! FUCK YES. SO AWESOME.
I looooooved when the island started going to hell and Fake Locke was making fun of Jack, until Jack beat him up and discovered that he could finally be hurt. UH OH, RAD THINGS TO COME. Ha ha ha, yeah.
The moment when the Jack/Sawyer/Kate/Hurley and Locke/Ben/Desmond teams met up was way cool because it felt like shit was about to start getting real. Ooooh yeah. This show has some really great shots.
"How do you plan to do that?" "It's a surprise." SO BADASS. HOW DID JACK GET SO BADASS? YES!! SO GREAT. OH JACK.
presumably Kate and Claire and Aaron all stayed together in some capacity I bet they adopted Ji-Yeon too. At least in my own personal canon she did until Cuse and Lindelof say otherwise and then I will be said. I...I, uh, don't usually do the "own personal canon" thing. But that just feels so right somehow.
What also feels right is...splitting this into two comments because LJ tells me it is TOO LONG???

I GUESS! I'm glad to hear other people have been mentioning it though, because i had really been wondering about that story reference not that long ago. I suppose it should have been a hint, but i just saw it as a misdirection, the way they've brought up fan theories before just to say "haha you're wrong."

We were confused at first too! It was like, wait, what the fuck is all this? But once we realized who it was that might be out there we were like "NO WAY! ...YES WAY!!!!"
The 300 Jack-punch-leap cut to commercial was totally badass. Like a comic book issue ending.
IT WAS THE FUCKING GREATEST. Jack's a goddamn superhero, apparently. :D :D :D

Before this episode i had really been betting on Hurley adopting her! He was the one person i could really see getting back to the real world (ha) and since he was there for Sun during those three years without Jin, it made sense to me. But then i also thought, well, Sun and Jin do have other family who could become her guardian. BUT ANYWAY. Kate/Claire/Aaron/Ji Yeon happy little family is still an adorable thought.
