The giant robot was pretty badass! And the Doctor flying a balloon gave me images of Lee Scoresby <3 and reminded me of my His Dark Materials/Who crossover wishes. LYRA AND/OR WILL AND/OR MARY MALONE AS A COMPANION, Y/Y?!??!? YYYYYYYYYYY (maybe Will went to med school with Martha!!!) Then again, basically i keep thinking of Who crossovers with every damn thing imaginable because it's so eeeeasy. Who/Lost! (Doctor Jack lololol GET IT) Who/Terminator! Who/Firefly! Who/Iron Man! Who/HIMYM because i don't know Ted ought to travel through time??! And of course Who/Potter because wizards are Time Lords obvs. WHO/EVERYTHIIIIING.
So what, the Doctor has sworn off companions, is that it?? Ugggh, see, i fear my problem with these remaining specials will be that i won't really care about the stand-alone stories. I like season-long threads culminating in epic conclusions! And, you know, relationships with established characters! And i worry about how he's going to regenerate because WILL ANYTHING EVER TRUMP THE PARTING OF THE WAYS?? Doubtful!
I miss Donna. :( :( :( :( :( The first new episode without her makes it finally... real. Ugh. I'm gonna go weep quietly for a little while. Although it is kinda nice that the last straw for the Doctor's *~*~heartbreak~*~* was the loss of Donna (compounded by Rose, i'm sure). It was very striking that the final scene of Journey's End was him alone; i was so surprised that it was the first time the ending didn't lead directly into the Christmas special and didn't lighten sad times with hilarity. (...i used to kind of resent the end of Doomsday for making me laugh immediately after crushing my soul!)
