Ten quirks/odd habits about me.

1. I love having my back walked on or otherwise cracked. LOVE IT. I will probably be killed one day in a freak amateur back-alignment accident, and if this happens, I will die a happy woman.

2. When there's hardly anything else I like about my appearance, I think of my nose. It is a cute nose, if I do say so myself.

3. I am not allowed to watch horror movies any more. I'm 23 years old, and even the trailers have been known to give me nightmares--one did just a few weeks ago.

4. I have a large dent in the back of my skull. My mother swore she never dropped me as a baby, but the jury's out about my dad (rumor has it she once had to snatch me away from him when he got so excited about a football game that he forgot he was holding me).

5. In high school I broke my foot when I tried to walk while my leg was dead asleep. This is the only bone I've broken so far in my life.

6. I really like to watch fish swim. Their movement gives me the feeling of wanting to bite on something, like when I had braces and the orthodontist gave me this heavy-duty rubber mouthguard thing to bite on when they got tightened. So far I've only found one other person who understands this feeling: my uncle, an avid sport fisherman.

7. I hate cheese and will not eat it if I can help it, with the following exceptions: (1) mozerella on pizza and (2) fake cheese flavoring, i.e., cheddar-flavored crackers, Doritos, generic macaroni and cheese--the brand-name stuff is too close to real--Chee-tos, etc. The less realistically cheesy, the better.

8. Sometimes I just want to drive and drive, until the clouds on the horizon turn into mountains. Or just up and fly to France without a word of leave-taking to anyone. One day, the only thing that kept me from doing just that was the fact that I didn't have my passport with me.

9. I've been stung by a bee only once in my life up to this moment--under my arm, while I was asleep. This was about fifth grade.

10. Usually I wash my hair every day, because it feels so very gross if I don't. When I miss a day, though, it feels so good when I do wash it again that I sometimes deliberately don't wash it (only if I'm literally not going to be leaving the apartment) just to enjoy the feeling of getting clean again the next day. This is icky, I am aware.

Ten things that make me think of you.

Write ten anonymous statements to different people on your LJ friends list and tell them what makes you think of them.

1. Most anime makes me think of you. So do the Final Fantasy games. I know it's not particularly profound as a bonding experience, but I enjoy watching movies with you and sometimes even just watching you play video games.

2. There is licensed Chronicles of Narnia jewelry that, although I was shocked and slightly appalled at the attempt to capitalize on Lewis's work, makes me think of you. Some of it was really nice, and I wished I could afford to buy you one particular piece as a birthday present. That's just one of several movies that always make me think of you.

3. Every time I cross campus and eye the tasty men, I think of you. We should try that adventure again sometime. :)

4. Things green and sinuous and twisting make me think of you. I think it has to do with your active imaginative life and your love of nature; these just speak to me of your personality.

5. What doesn't make me think of you these days? As an example, the national weather report every morning reminds me of you, I guess mostly out of habit; I used to pay attention when such information used to be somewhat relevant.

6. Lots of books make me think of you, especially Jennifer Crusie and Terry Pratchett. Delicate silver jewelry, the color blue, and big old houses do, too.

7. The German language makes me think of you, since you're probably the most fluent speaker I know. It seems fitting, somehow, that it's a language that I associate so strongly with you, since so much of our time together seems to have revolved around literature and various verbal games (i.e., horrible puns)--and certainly the life that you're crafting for yourself is bibliocentric.

8. Almost anything to do with the country you're currently in, or with teaching English as a second language, reminds me of you. I think it's very brave that you just up and did that, without (as far as I know) ever having had a particular inclination in that direction before.

9. Memories of choir remind me of you and make me wonder just how you're doing at that particular moment.

10. Red roses remind me of you. I'm not sure anyone else I know so enthusiastically embraced their identity as a member of the group that they symbolize. They are so much the classically romantic flower that they seem to suit your spirit, as well. I could see you wearing roses in your hair when you get married one day and looking very lovely.

And a bonus:
Tinycakes from the Cake Artist's Studio remind me of you. (They also make me hungry!) And they are something of a minor obsession around my office at the moment, so I think of you every time someone mentions them. I hope we'll be able to get together before you have to leave; perhaps there can be tinycakes. :)
