HA!, i tried, really. it took a while, because i had to find Proust, (HA! to the "e" i was adding.), because as much as i don't read, i take a book with me almost everywhere i go. to every waiting room, on most errands, really. and i had packed him in my "overnight bag" to the living room, because marriage and babies means giving up my room to

your initial reaction was Tori's constant reaction, as I dreaded reading everynight. She NEVER had work to do (in the room, when I saw her) and I had to read 50+ pages a night or so with her miserable TV on in the background. and it was all together different, but the same reaction, really.
it's not tactless to suggest. and really, it should be a solution. I actually have the solution of being in the middle of "East of Eden" and "Middlesex" which I am already interested in, but having nothing to do this summer and tackling Proust seemed poetic in itself. And I loved those first five pages, really.
I promise I don't mind putting down a book for an indefinite time, but the reason I haven't moved on is that it's a library book. And the rental was a commitment. And somehow, owning a book is not a commitment for me. It's as natural as breathing, but reading happens far less often.
This is really more rambling than reply. Is it with you that I associate "(The Art Of {ha!}) Zen And Motorcycle Maintainaince (ha!)" because maybe it's because it has zen in the title and maybe it's because I have a soft-spot for books given to movie characters by their nemesis ("ZATAOMM" to Melissa Joan Heart from father in "Drive Me Crazy" (which I def. associate with you), "The Fountainhead" (which scholarship I associate with you) to Baby from Robbie in "Dirty Dancing"), but I am yearning to read that, also I feel like I own it, but I don't think I do.
Ps. I hate that I oddly, naturally kept quoting legit titles instead of underlining or italicizing them.
PPs. This is your own little LGLJ entry, in comment form!
PPPS. I don't know why I capitalized the P in PS, but not the S, twice. (well, three times, but in this last one, I fixed it.)
