Flowers

I was out to the greenhouses today and I think my original flowers ought to work for Hannah; they're pink, as requested, but if the centers end up clashing anyway I can fix that no problem.

And I made another variety especially for Ginny, because everyone I asked said white and blue go with dark blue. They're pretty much just shape and color alterations to the first kind, since scent is harder to manage quickly and I like the way they smell to begin with.

Professor Sprout's practically given me a whole corner of Greenhouse Two for my little projects, which is very nice of her, I think, especially as most of them aren't really medicinal or anything, just ornamental. I do want to get up to hybridizing and altering some more useful plants, but it's very easy to accidentally create poisons that way, so I don't know if I'll get to those experiments yet this year.

I have a sample of the mold growing on a piece of rye bread in the very back of my bit of greenhouse nook; it doesn't smell except a bit musty, luckily, and the flowers cover that. This afternoon I took a tiny bit of the spores and sprinkled them on Sir Cadogan's picture frame in that out-of-the-way hallway going up to the North Tower and waited for Peeves--and wow, does that stuff ever work! Finally Sir Cadogan drove Peeves off long enough for me to swab the frame with the oil-and-juice-and-bread mixture, and he took off--I don't even think he saw me, he was so intent on that bit of frame. I swore Sir Cadogan to secrecy on his honor as a knight and went back down to add some more bread to the culture. I ought to have enough spores for Snape's chair by Thursday, Harry, so any time that day it's convenient I can give you the vial of spores and a flask of the wash for your hands so you can plant it safely. Ooh, I hope this works.
