Went out with the senior Stanfield brother tonight--I just got back, in fact. A friend of his flew in from D.C. and we showed her the sights of Memphis. I saw some things I've never seen before, and they were actually really cool. For example, we walked up and down Beale street and finally went into a little bar (I cannot remember the name). Shortly after, a band came up to play (it consisted of a black man on harmonica and vocals, an old white dude on the keyboard, and Native American lady playing bass. It was awesome.) The music was great; we danced until sweat streamed down our bodies, until the floor was smoking. ( I danced with C, by myself, and with an old black man advanced enough in years to be my grandfather. He just about wore me out, too.) Shortly thereafter, two guys joined our little group. Then all of us piled into the Jeep and went down to Harbor Town, where we proceeded to dance some more in the parking lot to some really good bluegrass. It was the most fun I've had in a long time, but I have to go to bed now... My cousin's wife is going into surgery this morning at 7:30am to deliver their baby by c-section, and I promised I'd be there=)
