well, i've finished war with the newts now. i heartily recommend it, especially if you like a) tongue in cheek satires of politics and the economy or b) distopian books.

i should be searching for new books, but i've been busy lately. today i spent my internet time pricing out a new clutch and gaskets for my motorcycle. i was intending to gap my valves and sync my carbs this weekend. instead my motorcycle maintenance began today as i blew my clutch in the far reaches of rosedale (winding roads and little traffic). i don't have a cell phone. luckily for me, rosedale folk are salt of the earth and i was picked up by the third vehicle which passed me and dropped off a mere 1 1/2 km from my home. anyways, i got my bike to my parents. the clutch is ridiculously easy to change, but i may have to wait on parts. the valve clearances, however, are a bit more involved and my bike has been stripped in preparation of that (fairings, rad, seat, gas tank).

i'll have pictures.

all in all i have to say that i'm grateful that this didn't happen further from home (like, say, the interior).
