I obviously knew I was going to dealing with shite this year, but I never imagined I'd have to be dealing with a corrupt professor in the first two bloody weeks on school. It's insane. Insane, insane, insane.

I'm not a D student, I've never been a D student, though if you looked at my Potions marks this semester... It's funny how a crop of failing grades changes your outlook on things.

And I honestly don't care if he likes us or not. We just should be getting the marks we deserve. It shouldn't matter that we wear uniforms with a bit of red and gold as opposed to green and silver (which is just another argument that the whole house system is stupid, anyway). He's there to teach us Potions, not take out his old school grudges on a set of students that can barely remember sharing the castle with him.

His treatment of students is going to cause a huge drop off in the number of people taking the course past OWL level (and I really hope Professor Dumbledore doesn't keep him past this year), which would be horrible, because up until this year I know scores of people, myself included, who actually enjoyed the subject. It's useful, and essential to have in quite a variety of careers post-Hogwarts. And if people drop it the first chance they get, then they're limiting themselves at an age when no one really, truly 100% knows what to do. Hell, I'm seventeen and I still have no bloody clue. I may end up wanting to do something that needs a NEWT in Potions and it's not fair to me or to anyone else that they may not get it because of the absurd practices of a biased professor.

I don't know if what Heather and I said yesterday got through. I'm not holding my breath.

I'm... Argh. I'm so mad and frustrated with all this that I can barely bloody see straight. At least Abby was there last night to listen to me vent and get me out of the castle for a while. I love her, she's a saint to have dropped her plans and put up with that.

I owe you a huge favour, just so you know.

Wednesday, a new day.

Let's hope the week finishes better than it began.

I think everyone's been settling in well to the castle so far this year with the obvious exception of. Well, ideally.
