[TV Stuffs]
I've been really slack on this. Never thought being out of Japan would cramp my style this much.
Biggest news is that there will be another 「大笑点」[Daishoten] on New Year's Day, in which I am hoping Taichi will be forced to show off more rakugo. (Everyone see his movie? It's wonderfully sweet movie. Nice and slow. And good. And the backstage actor-Taichi was so different from backstage TOKIO-Taichi.) While their Kohaku appearance hasn't been announced, it's pretty safe to say they'll be on. Likewise, the Johnny's Countdown Concert has not been announced, but KinKi Kids is having their annual year-end concert at the Tokyo Dome, so that's pretty safe to assume as well. TOKIO's annual sleepless New Year's is pretty much set.
Matsuoka is doing yet another New Year's jidaigeki TV Asahi special. This time he will be playing the role of Uesugi Kenshin (some may know this historical figure who is currently being played by Gackt in NHK's [Furin Kazan]) in 「天と地と」[Ten to Chi to]. Matsuoka portrayed Takeda Shingen in TV Asahi's [Furin Kazan] in 2006. He's becoming a common face in jidaigeki, not only with [Hissatsu] this past July, but Sasaki Kojiro in NHK's [Musashi] in 2003 and Oda Nobunaga in [Nobunaga no Hitsugi] in 2006. I know a lot of older Japanese people who know TOKIO because Matsuoka played Sasaki Kojiro. (^_^) This will be the first time he's had the lead role in a jidaigeki. Sweet!
Also: Matsuoka's ShinOishimbo both Part 1 and Part 2 are going to be released as DVDs, on sale February 20th. As well as Marathon, which he was in with Nino from Arashi, on sale March 5th.(^_^)
